Swapping a auto trans to a 5 speed?
Wednesday, September 21, 2005 12:44 PM
Is swapping a auto tranny to a 5-speed hard, and is it very expensive? Also, if it is hard and expensive how can I build up my auto tranny to make strong and having faster pulls?

Thanks

Think of all the work that has to be done. Clutch line, cluth pedal, new transmission, computer reprogramming... IMO its not worth it, just sell it and buy one with a 5 speed.

i agree, but finding a stick today is tough, i just got a 04 LS SPORT with a stick, took me a month to find one at the right price. prices have shot up since recent gas hikes.

it is a very easy task if you have a donor car to pull parts off of......the only fabrication part there is, is welding the tranny mounts and drilling the hole for the clutch master cylinder, other then those two items if you can pull an engine and trans out of a car and put it back in it isn't to bad. and i said engine and trans b/c thats the way i did it and it was alot easier to drill the hole for the master cylinder and run the cables and weld the mounts
