I own a 98 Sunfire GT with the 2.4 DOHC and it seems that in 5th, the drive ratio is really low. is there a tranny with a higher ratio so i can save gas on the highway and get better top speeds? swapping final gears would be cool too. any info is appreciated. thanks, Ben.
oh boy i wish. maybe there is if you find it let me know
2004 Cavalier, 2.2 ecotec, 5spd getrag
do you ever notice that the ones who talk the loudest have the least to talk about?
swap in the final drive from a 2200....... its a 3.61, will put you at a lower Crusing RPM on the freeway........ save some gas.....
3.94:1 FDR = 95-99 Z24/GT & all 00+ Getrags
3.61:1 FDR = 95-99 2.2 & 2200ohv
The lower the Gear ratio, the better the cruising RPM will be. IE: 3.94 turns of the engine, to 1 turn of the axle...... or 3.61 turns of the engine, to 1 turn of the axle.
I forget what the 5th gear is on either trans..... I have it saved at home on my computer.
