Here's the deal. So I finally got around to getting my clutch installed at a shop in Springfield, VA ($400). My car is a 00 Cavie 2200. the clutch is centerforce DF stage 2 according to them. the flywheel is Fidanza.
They installed everything and kept "losing the pedal". When they finally got the pedal back and went to back it out of the bay, they lost the pedal again. They then noticed that the fluid had leaked out of the tranny. Diagnosis: broke slave cylinder. OK so I'm thinking that well, it was old like the clutch so I bought another one ($388--dealer part, could find nowhere else). They took it for test drive and everything is OK
I come to pick it up Sat, started leaving. Went 1st, 2nd, 3rd. 1st, 2nd (the pedal dropped and stayed there)...went to put it in 3rd and was like OMFG where's the pedal?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Basically the brand new slave cylinder broke!!
I called Centerforce and they said they don't know why that's happening. So what I'm going to do is give them the part # of the clutch that was sent to me. If it's wrong for my car, they owe me another one (the right one). I'll find that out tomorrow. If all else fails, I'll have to have the shop put in an OEM one until I can figure this out!
I searched for 2 hrs, in all forums, thru all dates, approx 400 or so posts here on Sat evening...found nothing that relates to my exact problem. so I come to you guys because I really think someone can help me. Thank you very much for reading thru this long-arse post
I just want a friggin' Turbo!!!!!!!
There's prolly some air in the clutch line. Try having it bled.
sorry man....my buddy had the same problem and it was the slave cylinder.
check all fluids

they bled it over and over and forever and ever and was very meticulous with it. did you read the part when I said that fluid started coming out from the tranny? he said that it broke againg (slave cyl) the clutch seems to be too strong for the S.C. So do you guys think it's the clutch's strength or is the shop somehow doing something wrong?
1st if all you should have came to me for the slave cylinder, seeing how you know I work for GM and get parts for cost.
make sure they installed the clutch properly.I installed the clutch backwards once (not marked). It allowed the slave cylinder to push past it's limit.Basically it over extends the cylinder. When this happens it ruins the piston inside the cylinder. It then leaks and could ruin your new clutch. That is my geuss.
GOOD LUCK
oooh I still have the Rksport streetfire front if you want it.

did you figure it out yet?

well, I talk to the shop today and he said the reason why the slave kept breaking is because the clutch was making the throw-out bearing move farther than it was supposed to (hyper extend) to engage the clutch. What I don't get is that the paperwork that came in the box and the person I talked to on the phone where I got the clutch from said that the clutch is meant to go with all OEM components. SO WTF HAPPENED?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? If I wanted a regular clutch, I wouldh've done that in the first place.
Now that I have a stock clutch (and flywheel, which they had to order one of those also), I have to figure out who's at fault in theis situation. Is it me, being a dumb-arse? Is it the shop? Is it the people who sold me the clutch? I need insight on this. thank you.
make sure the clutch and flywheel are for your year........ and make sure the clutch wasnt installed backwards........ Compair the aftermarket parts to your stock parts...... they should be EXACT duplicates......... for the most part (all dementions should be the same)
and I would have went with Spec..... they come with Slave cylinders.......

^ ^ ^ Tru dat. I hope the shop didn't throw them away. Isn't there something that saids we have a right to keep our old parts? If they did in fact throw it away, then what do I do? It's hard to say whether they put it in backwards or not because I wasn't there to watch, and I highly doubt they'd admit it if they did (if they even knew they did). When I looked at my receipt from where I bought it, it say 2000 Chevy 2.2L. What now?

SO WHAT YOUR SAYING IS I WAS RIGHT? sorry but I am willing to bet they installed the clutch in backwards. That is what I did and it did the same exact things. They probly won't admit it though.
Easy way to tell is get the Centerforce clutch back from them.If it was in wrong you'll see unusual wear on the disc and flywheel bolts themselves. It's obvious to tell once you look at it.

I did get the CF clutch back. i'll have to look at it again...I thought I saw something funny on it but I don't know. Can we hook up sometime and you get a look at it too? If I can prove they @!#$ it up, then I can get almost $1100 back in unforseen payments!
