Anyone Have a B&M shorty for the GETRAG on the 03+ cavaliers. I am looking into this piece. I hate how long the throws are on my tranny. How is the kit? Does it come with a boot?
How does it throw after installation? Is it worth the $150 bucks?
I have one for my 02 which is the same trans but I like mine and you use the OEM boot. It's really nice. You might shop around and get it a little cheaper. Try all the vendors here but also Nopi, summit, jegs and compair to see has the lowest price.
Quote: no ofence man but if you have so much experience in all that why does your car look like crap?
Rob - It is a pretty straight forward install. Takes about an hour. We have them in stock if you would like to purchase one.

ok, i am a newb, obviously, and i was wondering what exactly a short shifter does. i am guessing it is for an automatic transmission.
Manual trans only. Shortens the length of the shift.

Hey I purchased a short throw shifter off EBAY and it was exactly the same thing as the B&M shifter something like this

It has everything you need and it is EXACTLY THE SAME, just not brand name and you save 100 dollars.
Of course all it is is a stock shifter basically cut down so if you wanna go really cheap take some bolt cutters or a grinder and cut your stock one down. Again ITS THE SAME THING.

i don't know about you, but I wouldn't cheap out on something like this. Get the B&M (Karo at carcustoms.net has the best price I could find---free shipping too).
The difference with this is amazing. I could not believe how much shorter and faster my shifts got after I installed this shifter. Definitely worth the $140 I spent on it.

You don't know what you're talking about and should refrain from spreading misinformation.
A proper short shifter, such as what B&M makes, is NOT the same as cutting down the stock shifter.
The shaft extending below the pivot ball on the short shifter is longer than the stock one, requiring less throw to move the cables the same distance.

Must be a small amount of difference such as that I couldnt tell from eyeballing the comparison.
