F23 VS. F25 GETRAG FIVE SPEED?
Monday, August 08, 2005 9:15 AM
Does anyone know the difference and not just want they assume. I know some guys on the redline and SS forums say they are better made. Will they bolt up where an f23 was (like in the 02-05 eco motors)? I blew out 2nd gear and I want to know my choices and also about LSD for eathier.

Thanks for any info.

They will bolt up to the ecotec motor, but not into a J-body chassis without welding in the proper tranny mounts. They are stronger, with different gear ratios, and the option of LSD (which also fits the F23 diff). I don't know of anyone who has done this swap into a J-body yet.

As for the motor mount I pretty much figured after looking at a SS. I'm guessing that there arn't too many at the bone yards yet and ebay's got nothing on f25's or f23's.

What LSD or insert has everyone had good luck with for everyday driving and would it be worth it in an n/a motor (I don't plan on forced induction down the road)?

What is the typical F23 getdrag going for used?

Is there a rebuild kit or how much would you think a 2nd gear replacement (syncro's)would run?
