Auto to Manual Swap

I have a 4 speed 2.4 and was wondering if it were to be worth it to switch to a 5 speed manual and how difficult that would be to do. I was also wondering if the new cobalt ss with the 2.4 has a 5 speed that could bolt up in place of my old one?

Worth it? Hell yeah. I did it to my 2000 z24 convertible. Way more fun to drive now.

Difficult? Oh yeah. 5 out of 5 wrenches. Can you weld? You'll need to weld in new brackets for the transmission mounts to bolt up to.

Dunno about the Cobalt SS. No one has done that swap yet, that I'm aware of. The newer cars are drive-by-wire (not cable throttle) so you'd have to basically swap the entire powertrain & electrical system. Probably not worth it.

Hey Brad, if you want more info on what to do and what parts you'll actually need, read this thread:

I know the topic says ECOTEC but it's the same theory...
