i am not real firmiliar with clutches at all so i have no idea what this could be
when i start to release my clutch and i begin to go, my clutch seems to chatter or clunk or something alone these lines (right when i first get moving) and then stops when i am fully moving. the only other time this happens is when i am backing up faster than i should. when it happens i can feel it in the pedal itself. my ? is does this mean i need a new clutch. my local clutch shop wants to charge me $75 just to look at the car. im hoping my fellow jbody owners can help me out
thanks
PS if it is the clutch where should i order my clutch/ possibly flywheel from?
i should also mention that this has been happening for well over 6 months with no other clutch problems
your clutch plates should have springs in them to stop the chatter. Maybe they are broke?
would that mean i need a new clutch or is it something else??
mine does the same thing when it is cool and damp out. I have no idea what it is! it eventually goes away when the car warms up.
If it is clutch chatter then you will definetly need a new clutch. If you could describe it a little better then maybe I could tell you. If you do plan on getting a new clutch I would go for a SPEC. I bought mine from car customs. Its not installed yet probably get it in next week but the shipping was uber fast as s--t.

Clutch chatter is usually from the throwout bearing. When you push the clutch in it goes away, right? My stock clutch did that and now my spec clutch does that.I wouldnt worry about it.If your hearing a clunking noise, thats not normal.Get it checked out.

If you have a getrag, Try changing the gear oil to saturn gear oil. It's a little thicker. I know when I first bought mine it started making that kind of noise and I have a buddy at the dealer ship and he said that we could try to switch it to that and it worked but the oil will break down in about a year and will need to be changed again (when it starts making that noise). But it's a good idea to keep good fluids in her. Try that first because your looking around $500/each for the clutch and fly wheel and around $500 to install. There is nothing cheap about a getrag! I blew out second gear so I'm figuring that out!

or it could be the flywheel is messed up eh? mine does that, i have a spec stage II, but didnt resurface teh flywheel so i get it all the time lol. oh, and if you get a new clutch and not a new flywheel, resurface it lol.

mine does that too. I took it to gm and they said they put thicker fluid in it. Like 3 weeks later the noise came back. nothing really to be concered about from what they told me. Im gonna get a new clutch and flywheel soon so i dont care about it much.

sounds to me like you have a warped flywheel. I would suggest taking it in and getting it re-surfaced, if you payed someone to install your clutch like a shop, then talk to them, because they should have re-surfaced it when they installed the new clutch.
