ok ive been thinking lately of raising the redline for me 01 Automatic cavy. I like to drag race the car, but 3rd gear is just a killer when it first shifts. I was thinking if i upped the redline to 7,000 RPMS, it wouldnt be so dead. But that got me thinking, when your at WOT, does the transmission shift at whatever the redline is set to, or does it have a preset RPM to shift at. Like even though the cars redline is 6500 RPMS, its told to @!#$ at 6500 RPMS and only 6500 RPMS, so even if the engine could rev to 7,000 RPMS, it would still shift at 6500 RPMS? Also im not gonna do a VSS mod, i dont care for all out speed, but would a VSS mod even work on automatic transmission? I mean if your cutting the wire that tells the cars computer what speed the transmission is going at, wont that mean the computer wont know when it should shift gears?

i heard the vss mod works on autos, i think it shifts based on pressures, not speed

most transmissions shift with line pressure...the 3 speed is all pressure... the 4 speed is electronic.
my guess would be to find someone that can reprogram the comp...reflash. like jbodyperformance, but 600$ though.
You would have to have a hell of a cam and springs to make it worth while in my opinion...
