B&M Short Throw

OK, this may sound wierd but did anyone notice driveability problems after installing this mod? I am looking at this shifter as a fianl addition to my car for performance and I drive a lot of miles (25-30,000 per year avg.). Any input would be welcome. I searched for the driveability in search but came up with nothing. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what sort of issues you're envisioning. It doesn't change the tranny in any way. It simply changes the way you select the gears. Once you're in gear, it's exactly the same as stock.

Now I did have an issue with the upper o-ring coming out of place and making it difficult to get into 1st... but that was easily fixed. I suppose that would make for a drivability issue... but could have happened with the stock shifter as well.

i havent noticed anything problem with my shifter. i drive just about the same amount as you do and i love the thing. the only mod i made was cutting the factory sleeve so i didnt have to have that stupid reverse guard. other than that i love it

Sounds like a good investment. As far as problems, I have never had a short throw before so I didn't know what the difference (besides shorter throw) would be. Weasel, can you tell me more about the O-ring problem. How did you fix that? Did you order a part for it or just use the O-ring that was already there? Thanks for the input.

The B&M shifter is one of the best things I've ever done to my car

there's nothing to worry about as far as driveability... in fact, it'll make the car more fun and easier to drive

install is not hard... just a pain in the ass.

when you get it in there, you will never ever want to drive another jbody with the stock shifter.

The only time you might regret it is when the stick is in sunlight for a long time (it gets hot) or when its wintertime outside (it gets cold).

I just have a glove in my car at all times I can throw on if the stick isn't a comfy temperature

No temperature issues with my shift knob.

I just described the issue in another post. It's the stock o-ring on top of the plastic housing that the ball on the stick fits into. It's held in place by the shifter retaining ring. If it shifts out of place, you can have these sorts of problems.
