ok.. well lets start this will be quite the story so im going to LA or freeway for that fact.. and my car will just come out of 5th gear.. its mostly when im going about 80mph and let up on the gas a little bit.. it pops out most only when i let up on the gas.. even the slightest amount.. ok.. now for the big problem as of last nite i was driving.. and it had been raining ect.. i got off the freeway went to downshift to 2nd and it sounded like reverse a horrible sound and it starts to grind everytime i went into thrid.. long story short i parked it went to check the fluid in the morning to find the dipstick/plug is gone?! i then drain wut is left of any fluid and it comes out like muddy goo crap.. i run 3 quarts of fluid through it seem to get most of the bad crap out.. put 3 more quarts of good stuff and plug it... everything seems fine except everyyytime i try to go into 3rd or downshift into 3rd it grinds and then goes in.. ive been just avoiding third.... last problem this has been going on for as long as i can remember.. when ideling.. there is like a light clicking sound in the car not sure where.. but if i push the clutch in it goes away.. its just like a tick.. but when im driving or hold the clutch in at a light or something i dont hear it.. im thinking my syncro's are gone or i need a new transmission i dont know wut i need any advice would be great .. any performance suggestions to go when getting a new tranny if need be? my car is a 96 Z24 103k Miles.. please let me know thank you
new tranny would be cheaper

Sounds like the synchros are bad. I agree that it needs a rebuild or start with another tranny.
i had the same problem, but i get different answers from different people just guessing! I just took it in and the tranny guy said i probably have a bad hydrolic system.........but on my last tranny when my shifter popped out of fifth i took it in and the tranny was gone. might want to take it in right away before it freezes up on you.
It sounds like a classic case of the synchronizer blues.

i'd agree with the synchronizers, the weakest link there are the brass blocking rings.

thats your synchros buddy...mine did it last yr- my third gear went out and it was pretty $$$ to replace...good luck
