Well, i figured i would post this to warn anyone else.. because there are a few grand am owners on here with the 2.4 and 5-speed isuzu....
FOR SOME REASON... gm decided to put a smaller front tranny mount on the grand am, than the cavie! Same tranny! Different sized inner bushing.
IM so pissed right now...
At least the lower mount from rsm will fit, because its the grand am version..
Even that didnt fit from the cavie...
I just hope that gets here soon.....
I put some silicone in the holes in the bushing to kinda help with the flex.. i dunno if that did anything at all...
Anyhow, if anyone wants brand new tranny mounts let me know. NEVER USED.

Damn that sucks, but I cannot believe that you didn't see that before you got the stuff apart and bought the mounts.
So you just got one?? Send it over my way. lol It will fit the Getrag right?? Should.

i know the trans bushings are the same for the J's 95-05 , for the 5spds
id sell them local , its would be easier
although karo would most likely take them back

or you can keep them and make them work. i just took mine to a bench grinder till they fit and there in my grand am right now.
what about taking a j body tranny mount and using that?
There prolly different mounts because of two different frames correct?
Just Wait and See..........
they fit my 2001 Alero! Just had to grind down the pin and bore it out a bit!
Check out this SUPER DUPER BUMP!! Reason Im doing it is the same reason this other Grand Am guy did. To warn people.
I too ran into this problem. Bought the inserts, didnt bother to super duper check, and yes our inserts (96-98 GA) are smaller. Not just the front, but both. But me... Im stubborn.
I went to the junk yard, looked at the jbody mount brackets. The front jbody mount bracket WILL WORK for our cars. Casting is a little different, insert is bigger, but all the bolting points are the same.
The back one however is different. If you look in the pic, the Grand Am one is not only smaller, but shorter. Doesnt reach as far. But I knew there was "some" play where the bolt goes in the mounting bracket on the frame... So I went for it. I will tell you, that is the TIGHTEST fit I have ever had to deal with when messing with automotive mounts. But, IT FIT.
Conclusion, jbody transmission mounting brackets WILL FIT a 96-98 Grand Am.
Good info.

The lower dog bone will fit also thats for a j on the 96-98 n body. One end just needs grinded smaller and will fit into place.
