Brandoson goes 13.827 @ 99.88 Turbo ECOTEC

We had a bunch of guys from AZJBO go to firebird raceway tonight.

It was cold out which was good. I think it was in the 60's

I had some good times with my custom built kit using the saab 9-3t mitsu td04 turbo and cast manifold.

I was running 6 psi for both of my passes.

I started off with a good first run against a Mustang GT with a paxton blower:

My slip-

R/T - .540 (yeah I know, but I wanted a good launch)
60' - 2.258 (also very sucky. It was my first time with the new tires haha)
330 - 6.155
1/8 - 9.253
MPH - 80.03
1000- 11.906
1/4 - 14.161
MPH - 100.64

The MustangGTs/c:
14.434 @ 99.58 (kinda slow for an s/c stang if you ask me).

I was jumping up and down, I was happy with the time. With the bad 60 foot time I knew I could do better.

My next run was the highlight of my night. My car said happy birthday to me

My slip-

R/T - .302 (again, I wanted a good launch)
60' - 2.025 (better than last time, but still needs improvment)
330 - 5.807
1/8 - 8.901
MPH - 79.73
1000- 11.557
1/4 - 13.827 @ 6 psi !!!!!!!
MPH - 99.88

I am very satisfied. I also heard those magical words...."Do you have a helmet?" ....."no" ......."your done for the night".... "woohoo!!!"

I realized after racing that I left my tires at the full pressure!!! I forgot to lower the pressure so that will help next time I run. I need a helmet now... everyone want to pitch in for my B-Day

Some of the other Arizona guys had some good times as well but I'll let them post their own here.

oh btw my new tires are 225/50/15 BFG Drag Radials

I got them today. Went racing less than 4 hours after having them mounted.

if you noticed you took 2 tenths in your 60' made the dif of 4 in the 1/4.. just a thing to keep in mind for every 1/10 you take of your 60' means 2 in the quarter.... nice time bty i am hoping for mid to low 13's on street tires but i will be running a full drag turbo setup ...

Yeah, also my 60' has room for improovment still. I am running bfg drag radials which still count as street tires

2.0 60's, VERY NICE man!! and at full tire pressure no less? Street tires? BRAVO!! Drop em to 15-20 psi and rip some 1.9's lol. One thing to work on though is it looks like your shifts could get a little quicker. I've had the same trap speed with a slightly slower 60' and managed a best of 13.6 so you can definitely knock another few tenths off. Way to go though, i'm very impressed.

I like them a lot.

scarab. The problem isnt the shifting as much as the tires being at full tire pressure spin when shifting still. Not much but a little.

thanks!

I am duplicating this kit for those that want a nice turbo setup for pretty cheap. What I like about it is the cast manifold and small mitsu TD04 turbo so it spools fast. Makes for a very fun daily driver that can run 13's on 6psi on stock motor.

This looks very interesting. and congrats on the new time.

I might be interested in doing this in the future.

And yeah, those 93's spool up fast. Nice power at 2K rpms +.

Nice times man...congrats.

Do you think it's the turbo spooling too fast that caused your 60 foot times to be less than what you expected?

yep, cold weather, high tire pressure, and that was my first time launching with drag radials. Even with the same conditions I could have improoved the 60 foots.
