Now that winter hit i want to get ready for spring and i want to go boosted after the full exhaust setup
now i have 175 000km on my car so it would be best for a rebuild before boosting it
BUT my brother and friends (basically anyone around here) are 4 cyclinder racist. basically they all say.
"if you turbo or supercharge or nitrouse that 2.4l engine, even after rebuild i give it a year before you have to rebuild again" and they bugg and make fun.
well, its annoying. and i really want to get the gm supercharger and shut them all up.
so do i have really have to worry about the reliability or longetivity of my 2.4 when i boost it? or as long as i keep up with regular maintenance am i fine?
well reading the faq like a newby like me should do in the first place. lol. awnsered most of my questions and by the sounds of the FAQ if i rebuild and put on the gm supercharger i should be good for a long long time,as long as get the right injectors and the rest of the setup.
so ill do it one. do it right, and hopefully have no problems,
If anyone has any tips or advice before i go boosted, im open ears
if not... you can delete this thread. and sorry for wasting your 2 minutes reading all this lol
the gm charger was MEANT for 2000-2002 2.4 twin cams
with that in mind... it will bolt up to your 99 but you will have to manage fuel by some other means than the reflash that normally comes with it
look up "jake" or "greenz" he has the charger on his pre-2000 2.4 and he's having good success with it
Yeah, The GM kit is awesome for reliablity. Turbo's can end up makeing more power, but it cost alot and the tuning is always a Biatch! However, IIRC, there isn't anyone I know of that has blown a 2.4 w/ the GM kit that hasn't went nutz with it (I.E. smaller pulley, improper tuning, etc.) But, turbo 2.4l seem to pop pretty easy w/o a good tune and better internals.
Failure is not failure if you learn from it
I heart turbos. I find them to be more fun
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
cool, cause when i get the kit i want my engine rebuilt (might as well get some stronger internals) so when i turn the key the first time after the rebuild. it will be with the gm charger on it
so with this in mind i should really have around 5 grand (or more) for:
gm charger kit
fuel management.
stronger internals (going to have to find what those are going to be lol)
tuning.
Pricey, but i wont care once my head is forced back into my seat
I would say it'll cost more than that! You forgot about the price of machine work. Plus, you should really build the head as well, atleast put better valves, springs, etc in it.

Jago, might be off topic, but don't let people like that get to you. They are plainly either uneducated (car wise) or ignorant purposely. I hate to hear when people say that one car can't be fast because it's a certain type of car when they don't realize that forced induction is the pill to leave the Matrix. If an Geo Metro Turbo'd can beat an Trans Am (V8), anything is possible.
