Turbo Charged!!!!

Hey guys, finaly got my long awaited turbo kit from Jtuners.com, Leo did a great job on the kit, so let me first off say way to go on nailing this thing. Very detailed instructions, and great pictures. And lemme tell you, the Blow off valve you guys have is sweet!

I'm still waiting for the intercooler piping to finish the kit off 100% but even with out it, wow. The turbo I think was stock at 5psi, though thats currenty in questions due to the boost gauge going to appox 12psi\15psi. Assuming the gauge is even off by 5psi due to the lines.. thats still seems high, however with the engine build i'm not worried =)

But yeah, if anyone is considering, or is waiting to get one of Jtuners.com's kits.. please feel free to contact me, Even though I had a place install the kit for me (while I was present) even they were amazed on how stright forward the kit is. We did come up with some ways to cut down the time for the install, but if you need to know that just send me an e-mail.

Working on pictures today. And I also got , I think it was 320cc injectors, with a Split sec unit as well. I'll try to get pictures as soon as I get the car back today. Had to drop it off for some more fine tuning with the split sec, I was getting a mild sputter and hesitation, and I think once they modify my fuel curve I'll be set.

Ok, well ... my day was killed short a few days ago. After the shop had finished tuning my engine, everything seemed alright, they test drove it, and it drove great. I get in to drive it home, run thru first and second gear with no problems. I stop at a stop sign and go to take off and boom, blown head gasket, white smoke fills the WHOLE ally way and I am sitting there going why me.. =\

If anyone has had problems with a head gasket, or plans on running boost on there 2.4L's.. its a fantastic idea to have your compression changed, and or getting at least a good high quality head gasket, Jtuners.com sells one for boosted cars for appox $102 plus shipping, and they will also help lower your stock compression a tad bit as well if your not going to go thru the whole enigne.. I learned the hard way.. =\ (Stupid car lol)

woops...would help if i'd read the entire post first. sucks you blew something. just think positive about this and that when you get the motor back together it should be that much stronger.

One of the tricks the shop and I did, was keep the turbo on the manifold. The four bolts mounting that thing are a pain to get off, even with the manifold\turbo off the car. So what we did to adjust for more room was unmounted the upper engine mount, and with a bar, we rocked the engine forward enough to allow clearance to slide the manifold (with turbo still fully mounted) between the firewall and the exhaust studs. This saved us a good 2 hours based on how hard it was trying to just figure out how to find a "quick" way to reinstall that turbo.

One of the reasons I'm not as upset (just extremly depressed) is the fact the shop I took it too isn't out to screw people, the guy is giving me a huge break on the labor, and working on it way more then the 12 hour GM estimate. I think he has prob put about 30 hours into that darn thing between taking it apart, putting it together, tuning etc. If you ever need a great shop in Prescott Valley, AZ, I got one for you. Just lemme know.

Above and beyond that, the turbo kit its self is a great design, Jtuners spent a lot of time, and I think pretty much nailed the install making it pretty swift to put in place, even the shop was amazad on how well put together it was (just need to add a bag of zip ties, and one or two more gaskets and it'll be literaly a "full" set) Whats depressing, is the shop in California reused the same hold bolts, didn't fully tighten the center bolts, and over tightned the outter bolts, thus creating my RSM Stage 3 P&P head to warp more then 2 thousands of an inch, and being for "Some" odd reason, the RSM head only had an available 4 thousands of an inch to work with, and no shops around here will touch any head due to being under 5 thousands. The guy who did the engine build was a great guy, and I had known him for ages, but I can't get over the fact he didn't think to buy new bolts for as much money as they charged to do the full engine rebuild, I mean $20 just costed me a whole lot.. =\

I will post pic's, and updates as soon as I get the car back. The shop is putting the new head on today, reinstalling, and going to attempt to re-tune the car with the SplitSec box and with the 320CC injectors.
