hey guys whats up well we are trying to swap out a 96 2.4 for a 99 and we are trying to swap the knock sensor from one to the other. for some reason the one from the 96 will not fit into the 99 . this is a problem because the 96 knock is a 1 wire plug and the 99 is a two wire plug so we need to find a way to get the 96 knock sensor to work on the 99 block. i know that there are people who have swaped this motor into their pre 2000 z24's for the gm supercharger so there has got to be someone who can help us out thanks alot.
any suggestions on what to do , just a reminder we are putting in a 99 2.4 into a 96 sunfire gt . the 96 2.4 blew up under boost.
you need to drill and retap the hole for the 96 knock sensor
but wont i get metal shavings in the engine
the hole doesnt go all the way into the engine...... have you even looked at it? Just find the tap for the knock sensor, and on it is the drill bit size....... open the hole up, and tap it out.

my bad i forgot thanks guys is there anything else i should know
just trying to get some boost to the road before winter comes around
go slow , and keep the drill straight as you drill it out
also you can use a pencil and measure the depth of the stock hole , that use tape , and go around the drill so you have a reference point on how far to drill
when you tap the hole go slow
is there a certain type of bit/tap needed to do this or will any drill bit and tap work?
search in the performance section. i seen a post about it b4.
ya we just drilled and tapped my 2k motor for the 96 knock sensor. seems to be working.
