boost gauge question....
Wednesday, September 28, 2005 5:48 PM
well, i got my boost gauge

its a VDO with autometer tubing kit. anyway, the bolt on the back for the boost line, on the main screw that is supposed to go onto the gauge, doesn't go on all the way. it goes on probably like halfway. this was hand tightening it. is it supposed to go on only have way, or are the two things incompatible? (which would be weird)

the tube only needs to be snug to seal the line

the tube should only slide about 1/2

you have any pics of the gague and the line

here's the pix.

and so heres the question. on the back, not the socket that contains the nylon tube, its the socket that goes onto the gauge itself, it only screws on to the gauge about halfway down the socket (not the gauge, the gauge screw is long). its like it gets tight as if the threads were different....... i mean, it screws in fine the first half no problem not crossthreaded, but you definitely get to a stopping point.

anyway, i like it cuz it has a full sweep of only 15 psi (running a stock pulley s/c, so i'll see the needle move some ) and also it seems to match the stock gauges nicely, including the lighting color and intensity.

the middle part as long as it is screwed in and sealed , you will be fine

the threads should be tapered , that is why it stops at a certain spot

you know i never thought about the VDO , i like the psi range on your gauge and the full sweep

you might want to use a little bit of the liquid teflon paste to seal the threads , but i doubt youll have any problems

its just weird, cuz it doesn't go on very far at all. i thought all tubing kits were the same, cuz this is an autometer tubing kit .....
