Hahn Stage 2 fuel issues....anyone else have them?
Friday, September 16, 2005 10:32 PM
As the title states, I have had the Hahn Stage 2 kit for the 03 Cavalier ECOTEC for almost a year now and I'm having problems with my fuel running pig rich. I'm pretty sure I have tried everything except for scrapping the entire fuel set-up, which I'm close to doing. (I'm looking at a Cartech stage 1) If I'm just an idiot and missing something stupid, please direct me, this problem is driving me crazy.

Running the Hahn Stage 2 with the black & white one way check valve as opposed to tapping the line between the compressor and the wastegate. The reason why I'm doing that is because I want to keep my MBC. And if anyone has tried to tap the compressor/wastegate pressure hose with a MBC installed, you know the mess it creates.

Thanks alot guys

i had a few issues...but i got mine running good. try this connection setup...straight from Bill

compressor housing---------FMU signal place

IM------T------BOV
I
I
boost controller in

boost controller out------wastegate actuator

see if that doesnt help any....plus you'd rather be rich then lean. but if its bad play with the fine adjuster so that your rise comes at about 4in vacuum. and make sure your base pressure is 30-35PSI

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

I tried the set-up you said hypsy, my boost controller dosen't like it at all, my turbo won't build boost (Manual Boost Controller), thanks anyway though man. And my regulators brass needle is set as lean as it can go, its a weird problem, Hahn can't even seem to undersatnd the problem either. I'm very close to just taking a weekend to go to Hahn in Illinois and get them to to fix my car (about a 8 hr drive for me, and coming from Canada). I almost at my end here

I also have a Greddy E-Manage yo do some fine tuneing as well, I just want the basic system working right before I tune her up, because that costs big bucks.

Thanks alot guys, keep em' coming

BEGi sells Cartech their fmu's according to Bell Engineering so if you bought a Cartech you would be getting the same FMU. You said you have had it for a year so it's a possibility the fmu is getting sloppy. BEGi sells rebuild kits for their fmu's.

http://www.bellengineering.net/Pages/products_FPR.html
Regulator Overhaul Kit (for 20002, 20003, 20005, 20007)
Includes new shim, 2 diaphragms, spring, washer, needle valve and hosebarb.

We recently did a turbo kit and got a fmu from a company other than BEGi and ran into all kinds of problems. The car was extremely rich most of the time, at higher rpm it was drounding in fuel and missfiring. We spent days talking to the company, sent the FMU back to them and they checked it and sent it back to us and it still happened. We bought a BEGi fmu and the car ran perfect. My point is when the FMU's arent working properly the car runs horrible so maybe yours just needs some maintenance.
