i doubt this has ever been asked before..... but I had to check. when i get under boost, i hear a subtle wooshing/hissing. should i be able to hear this.... is it just the air rushing through the pipes? or do i have a boost leak somewhere? thanks.
yes thats normal.. thats your turbine spining and air going through the pipes. more the throttle, the louder it gets.if you had a boost leak, you would see your boost gauge drop.
it's a mix between all of that and the pressurized air being forced through the fins of your intercooler. The larger the intercooler, the more noise you will get. Hard pipes also amplify the sound. Both of those are reasons you don't hear the sound as much with a stock boosted car. If it was me... I'd still check all my connections for a boost leak when there is any doubt.

The Farther your air cleaner intake is from the turbo the quieter it will be also..
allright guys, thanks for the input. the noise doesnt bother at all, just making sure its ill normal. now that ive driven a few hundred miles with boost, ill also check all my charge piping connectors and hose clamps for security and leak-proofing.
that noise is a coveted noise. enjoy it. it's a goooooood thing.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Welcome to boost my friend....
You will find yoursrlf playing with the throttle to make those noises...
Err, is anyone else as addicted to boost as I am?
Later,
Jeff
