Well after burning up 2 blazer pumps, I finally got down and dirty myself with a shop and we sat down and looked into the problem.
The first thing people complain about with these pumps is that they have fuel cut - my first pump had fuel cut under 1/2 tank at 5000 rpm and at around 1/4 tank it was around 3000 rpm...
Some people complain the car is hard to start after shutdown and the pump doesn't hold pressure after the car is off. My first blazer pump DID hold pressure, the next two didn't... but with this 3rd pump even though it doesn't hold pressure with the car off for too long (about an hour and a half) it starts up on the first crank without priming the pump.
I installed a proper new blazer pump sock this time and we replaced the old fuel line that was falling apart (we found out) and this 3rd pump runs like the following:
1 - PLENTY of fuel up top. Much more than my first pump.
2 - The car is easy to start. No issues with hard starts or long waits priming the car.
3 - NO FUEL CUT until 1/8 tank.
... yes you heard me right. No fuel cut AT ALL at 12 lbs of boost until 1/8 tank left.
What did we change? A new doublesided blazer fuel pump sock, we cut the cup on BOTH sides to accomodate the larger sock and let me tell you - it has helped. This car now drives like stock right down to 1/8 tank and I don't know about you boosted guys but I don't like taking my car down that far anyway so it'll never get past 1/4 tank.
Right now I'm getting about 450 km per tank (ish) running 12 lbs of boost city driven... Stock I only got around 520 km/tank so this is NOT a big loss for me (about 40 or so miles per tank)....
At the end of the day - I'm very happy with this pump. It is NOT noisy like the walbro, it flows more than sufficient fuel for up to 14 psi (I have run up to 14 psi on the engine thus far and the fuel has been there)... and it has shown no symptoms of previous installs/problems that people had.
I would recommend it to anybody - just cut the cup and get the larger blazer sock and make sure you install the pump well and everything is golden.
I HOPE this info helps people because I searched a few weeks ago and there isn't a lot in terms of info for the blazer pump as far as end-users go....
Good luck all.

My car only ran with the pump for a few weeks, and it was a long time ago, but I don't remember ever having fuel cut. I used the Blazer sock, but didn't cut the cup (just crammed it all in there
)

I have the pump, and I don't have a fuel cut at all. but I always have a full tank cause the first time I put it in I brok the arm that goes to the gauge. But I do have trouble with starting it, Im glad im not the only one I thought that maybe something was wrong with it. good to see that your happy with it and that this one is working for you.
as for installing it, it really isn't hard at all. you could take it somewhere and pay out your butt or you could take an afternoon and learn something by doing it yourself. thats how I did it. I had no clue as of what I was doing or how it worked, after having the tank out and changing the pump 3 times I can have one pulled in about 15 minutes. I bought mine from here. glad you got it worked out.
my walbro isnt noisey at all.
Jake's old blazer pump works great on our drag car...... we do have to keep 1/4-1/2 tank of fuel in the stock tank, to make sure we dont get fuel cut. (when ever the car starts running like crap, we add more gas
)
Shouldn't be a problem in our new tank.

Well i am going to try the fuel pump my father used in the GNX first and if that doesnt work out im going to buy this pump.
Well ive had the blazer pump swap done to my car for about a year and a half now and not asingle problem. My stocker went south, and i had this pump sitting in the stock tank removed from my truck at which point the pump had 58K miles on it and had been sitting in in the tank in fuel for almost a year.
I did install a new sock, and cut both sides of the cup to make sure there was enough fuel getting to the pump. and as long as im mindfull i can get to around 1/4 to 1/8 tank until it sloshes around to much. But i try to not let it go below 1/4 tank. I have put about 25K miles on the car since the install and have been very happy with the performance.

Ok when you guys say you cut both sides of the cup what sides are you talking about? If the cup is the otter most piece that resembles a cup mine is round. Do you have any pictures ? How much of if did you cut? Are you using the sock (strainer) that attaches to the cup? Along with the one that goes to the pump?
My stock pump has a black line that goes from the pump down to the pick up point and the blazer one doesn't is this a problem?

I actually by-passed that little pickup tube you're talking about (took it out completely) and physically cut the entire bottom of the cup off (but left enough so the fuel level floater still clips in right.)
The way it's set up now, the Walbro's filter is sitting right on the bottom of the tank. I had much less than an 1/8th of a tank left when I did this install. When I tested the pump, it BLASTED fuel out. Think we'll be A-OK, but who knows.
Ok thanks for the help. One more question.
my new pump doesn't have barbs on it to hold the line on. Do you think I'll be ok just to get so regular fuel line a hose clamp it on to the pump?

^^^ Basically, you want to cut off and discard the OEM fuel feed line. Just replace it with a 3/8" fuel injection (high pressure) rubber line. Clamp it on both ends and you're good to go. Just make sure they're tight as hell
Ok than i did the right thing. I did that last night. Are the rest of you guys removing this much of your cup?

Post from the Dead.
Agent Omega is BANG ON - that's why I burned out 2 pumps - we didn't put HIGH PRESSURE line in... we used what came in the kit. BIG mistake... cost me 2 pumps before I figured out why it was overworking itself...
High pressure line and good clamps will do the trick... we cut out two large rectangles out of each side of the pump and hung the doublesided blazer sock out of it, leaving everything else intact.
For the time that I was able to drive the car, it ran great, I could finally drive it with no fear all the way down to 1/16th tank before any odd behavior started up, but I only did it once as a test. As a rule I no longer run under 1/4 tank, just to keep the pump submerged and cool.
Good luck and enjoy the pump man.

Well pump is in. I used the hi pressure line with clamps. I just drilled a hole on each side about an inch , just big enough to get the sock out. I had 2 gal of gas in a can put it in the car and she fired right up.

anyone got pics of this cup mod your doing
This fuel feed line that you guys put a hi press hose on are you talkin about the one that is the accordian tube stock?
Car is for Sale!Supercharger kit is for sale!
suprisingly i cut the cup when i first installed the pump and i started getting issues right about 1/4 tank because of splashing. for instance i coulnd take a fast turn with about 1/4 tanks because it would cut out from the splashing. i replaced it with the stock cup and left the outside sock on and stuffed the blaser sock inside of the cup and i have no fuel cut ever.. just an fyi for some

SLO CAV (the slo one):
Shoot me an e-mail to remind me, and I'll get you some pics on Monday night while I'm at the shop.
Bobby(Blown&Pullied):
Yes--it's the line that goes directly into the top of the pump (OEM), and it's def. the one that's the most "bent"
i used the one that came with my walbro pump.
but you guys have good points and that is probably the way to go about it.
omega email sent thanks man...
Did we ever get to see some pics?
