Now where's the MAP sensor on the LD9?

just as the title states, where does the map sensor go that comes with the GM charger?

On the stock intake manifold its on the bottom with a small tube hooked to it.

On the SC theres a little nub on the throttlebody side toward the bottom that the new tube slides onto and then to the new MAP with you mount on the SC with the provided bracket.

so with the map on the TB side, before the rotors, how is it seeing boost?

The MAP sensor on the GM s/c goes on the charge side of the supercharger before the bypass valve.

If you're talking physically, it's mounted on the bottom side of the supercharger on the neck that connects to the throttle body. There's a machined out area to mount it on.

Why do you need to know?

I'm have an RSM kit, bought used, no reflash included since the seller had "not-so-great" results with the reflashed PCM he got from RSM. He used an FPR and s-afc to tune instead. I'm gonna use the GM reflash and 2bar map, I'm just wondering where I'm gonna put the map sensor.

i talked to craig about the differences between the 2 reflashes, and will be talking with them more tomorrow, I'd just rather spend $120 on the map sensor and $20 for the reflash than $350 for a RSM reflash that I'm not too sure about. Either way, I've got the s-afc, I just want boost with no cel's.

I'm assuming the grand am in your profile is the car that's getting the supercharger. What's wrong with putting it in the stock spot on the intake manifold?

You should be just fine with the 2 bar and the gm reflash. I also suggest picking up the gm supercharger injectors as well if you are going near 4-5psi

Your assumption is correct. Nothing should be wrong with putting it in the stock spot in the intake mani, I was asking the question because of a conversation I had with Craig from RSM today.

And yeah I already got some 310RC's so I think I should be good to go. Now I just have to order the map sensor, and get one of the guys at the dealers here in AZ to reflash it.

Oh, another thing, how should I go about driving it to the dealer after the vortech is installed? It's a lil ways from where I'm doing the install to the dealer....... just keep it under 3k rpm's? and should I drive there with the 2bar map in or put it in after the reflash?

In all honesty, I'd disconnect the charge pipe on the s/c.

I drove the car to the dealer with the 2 bar map on. shouldn't have a problem. Just do NOT go there on boost.

The only other thing I'd do for the MAP sensor is go buy a new vacuum line for it. You don't want the old one to pop off while under boost or crack and cause a leak so your fuel readings are off.

so think I should put the cone filter on the end of the disconnected charge pipe, or probably keep it on the blower so it doesn't inhale anything?

wow, I just looked at my registry here, and I don't even have that cavy anymore lol

oh, and I was thinking of giving your alky injection kit a shot..... wonder how much of a difference I'd see if it's already intercooled?????

Eh, if you're not going too far and you don't have a tendency to suck up small animals with your car, it wouldn't hurt anything to just take the pipe off and leave everything else alone. Not a huge deal.

Alky will always help with preventing knock and detonation regardless of it's effect on efficiency of forced induction. To answer further, no I don't know specific results based on an RSM intercooled car with alcohol injection...but I do know the Grand National guys using alky love it with their intercooled setups. Like I said, less chances of knock and detonation if raising the boost level is desired.

right on. Thank you for your info.

Now just to get the reflash done. I know of two guys at two different dealers that said they could do the reflash, but one said he would need the VCI #. I had someone from parts call TCSC with my VIN to get the VCI, but they couldn't get through, and I believe he just left a message. Should I just get the thing plumbed, take it there, and dial em up myself? I just don't want TCSC to deny giving me the reflash cuz I have a vortech.

Reflash it first? hmmmm.. that would make it a bit easier.......

now do I have to use pn 9350899 or will any GM 2bar map sensor work?
