I noticed this at the end of the install instructions. Would removing the VCM and taking it to the dealer for the reflash be that hard to do? Although i have no idea where the VCM is located. Just wondering how hard of an option it would be since i have a kinda long drive to the dealership.
The VCM or PCM is located at the front of the passenger side wheel well . You will need to remove the inner fender well to get to it . It is bolted in with two 10mm bolts and will pull out of the bracket once you have the bolts out . You may need to also remove the horn also to get the PCM out .
Having the PCM ( VCM ) reflashed will let you get the most from your S/C . The factory settings on the PCM are not for any forced induction . Adding a S/C or turbo will show increases with factory settings but not as much as having the PCM recalibrated for the boost . The reflash would also keep the car from leaning out when you need the extra fuel because of the boost .
It would be something you will want to do .

yeah most dealers wont do out of car reflashes , the parts dept is to cheap to buy the tools
That's what I found out when looking into it.
It can be done... but most dealers don't have the equipment to do it. Realistically... how often would a dealer need to reflash the PCM for a car they don't have in their shop?
a local here had it done out of the car..... believe his user name is Derekz24
ya i had my reflash done out of the car.
None of the gm dealers around here could do it, but the instructor that does the training for all the gm tech's had the equipment and was able to do it
