well i pulled the head off tonight and found some strange @!#$ my number 2 and #4 pistons were broken on the edge like a peice just chipped off . #2 had a peice of the ring missing #4 just had a peice of the piston missing definetly weird! you could tell it was just a mechanical failure like a defect or something nothing like i actually melted the piston. the cylinders looked really good even wear on all edges but yeah the head has a few dings nothing serious im gonna go get it shaved .0020 should take care of them rebuild the bottom end and get er done any one ever heard of this happening??? just a little sliver off the edge of the piston is missing??????

that my friend is called detonation and bad tuning is what caused that. Remember these car are not designed for boost so it wasn't a defect that caused your upper ring land to break

High CC temps will cause PRE IGNITION so even if your EGT are good, you can have detonation. You will have to retard the timming otherwise you'll blow the next engine too.

You can rich all you want, Detonation and pre-igniton are 2 different things that you should know about.

Do your pistions look like mine did after a 100 shot dry. Twice. I had no fuel mods, and it was time for the new engine anyways. It was a 2200 btw.

that sucks. a piece actually broke off of the piston eh..... is it off the top like maybe it hit a valve or something.

If a piston hit a valve, before it happened, you would've noticed alot of crank knocking, due to worn/torn bearings. If you ran you're car alot after noticing allot of knocking you would need a complete rebuild of the engine. new crank, new bolts, new rods, new pistons, new head/valves. or it the rod finnally disconects... the block would have a hole in it.
