All you ecotec people out there that are running boost..what are you guys doing for fuel managment? can you just list your fuel mods at what PSI please? I just want some ideas out there..i thinking about going a different route..the computer in my 04 cav seems to change my ratio when it realizes its running rich no matter how much preussre i put into my 310cc injectors. I just want some ideas...and maybe someone who has had this same problem could help me??
THanks !
BTW this is what im using- Accel AFPR, 310cc gmsc injectors, cartech FMU, walbro 255
Blazer pump,
370 cc injectors low impedance (I switched)
FMU
at 8 psi I am running good, at 9 lean injectors too little.
Best time:"""11.946""" @ 114.73 mph @17psi 1.83--60"

We had a ecotec setup with stock injectors, and a nx fuel solenoid for extra fuel to 17psi of boost. Good enough for 113 mph in the 1/4 mile.
As for the computer making adjustments well it is suppose to, but only to a certain extent.
FU Tuning
Its funny you say about the computer adjusting to achieve 14.7:1 ...
Although the now closed Haas doesn't have a good reputation, it seems Dave Seaton may have known a little something.
He explained exactly what you've been Deekster. Once the car starts seeing a few psi boost, it adjusts itself back to what it should be, 14.7:1.
His supposed solution, was a custom made piece by COMPTECH. A certain voltage, map sensor modifier.
I've yet to hook this up, my car is still down. The only person I've heard of having one installed was Twisted System, but for some reason I think he had it wired in wrong , or had a wrong instructions.
I'm very curious how this MSM will work, I'll let everyone know as soon as I'm back on the road. If it does work, maybe we can contact Comptech to make some more.
Otherwise before the SDS EIC, I was running 6psi with a Vortech 12:1, Stock injectors. Ran perfect for 6-8 months, I ran it hard EVERYDAY.
Good Luck Deekster
hows your SDS EIC running now? what are you doing for tach signal? i plan on going that route?
the msd dis2 is almost figured out with that there is a tach output on the box
1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
I was told by afcavy to splice into the orange idi wire for tach signal.
He used the sds eic, on his cavalier connection ecotec turbo.
It worked, How good I don't know because I didn't have a wideband or dyno at the time.
When my motor is finished, I now have an aem wideband. I'll let everyone know how the SDS and MapSignal Modifier work out.
Can't wait for the MSD Matt!!! I'm one of your first customers, you know that.
Mcnulty, I can assure you my MSM was not wired wrong. I have pictures that I can verify with. I've also sent those pics to Haas to assure them it was correct. It's plain and simple, the MSM does not work. You can also check out
http://www.turbosaturns.net/forum/ some of the ION guys over there have tried it and said the same thing... the MSM is junk. All it will do is throw a cel. It's just a waste of money. I'm still working on my new fuel setup, I hope to have it done soon.

Well that fuking sucks!!!
I believe you!
I'll have to wire it up anyway, to see for myself. LOL
Thanks for posting.
well..i drove my car just about 10 mins ago to get some pizza and now going by my A/F gauge not a wideband...it seemed to run rich in boost but ...unlike when we tested it on the wideband (i wasnt driving) he would punch it and that was that..12 on the a/f and then it would step up to 14.7-15.0 ..like if i was driving around town cruising =( now this may sound stupid but it seems when i put it in boost and ease the pedal..not totally floor it..but ease it so the computer has to make constant adjustments for fuel and eventually get it to the floor..my a/f guage will stay rich instead of bouncing back and forth like when i floor it (like the wideband) Keeping it at constant floor...
basicly it seems that my computer is figuring the most optimized ratio (14.7) when it see's that the throttle is staying in one position...does that make any sence???? LOL
Just out of curiosity, not trying to be flamed... But if the computer wants the engine to run at 14.7 a/f without boost, why would it hurt it to run at 14.7 with boost. I understand theirs more heat involved from the turbo, but as long as it keeps that a/f ratio why would it be a problem? I understand its better to be safe than sorry and stay on the rich side but eh, im just curious.

i beleive the extra fuel is to compensate for the hotter air being forced into the engine...
where do you have your iat sensonr at? I just bought a screw in one at autozone for like $8 it might help if you just have yours dangling somewhere now.
more air = more fuel
i dont think the computer is capable of cutting your fuel during boost to get back to the a/f it wants to see. i ran my a/f low 10's to 11 on the wideband. that was with the saab injectors and about 35 psi or less base fuel pressure, then a little adjustment on the fmu

Ecotec turbo kit for sale
i have my IAT sensor coming in the mail now actually..your right it is just dangling in the engine compartment atm..it will be installed soon as it comes in..would be weird if thats causing all this but i dont see how...
