Hey guys, whats up? I'm looking for ideas to get my EGT temps down a little, larger injectors, fuel system, exhaust???? Thanks
how high are they?

at WOT they will easily go into 1550 or better. Usually when cruising at 65 or so around 1400. I have an 01 2.4 with GM s/c, embree 2.75, rsm 62mm t/b.Thanks
More fuel is usually the best way to lower EGT's.
Too much fuel can raise your EGT's too. Invest in a wideband O2 sensor, then use other methods to adjust your fuel system as needed.
ways to lower egt's
1 water injection.
2. more effecient turbo
3. larger diameter charge pipe
4. larger intercooler
5 headder wrap(wrap the whole thing)
5 cryo2 makes a intercooler sprayer that uses co2 they also have a fuel chiller and this thing that goes in your charge pipe that chills the air.

Your right it can, and the wideband is the best option. In most cases that I have seen high EGT's are normally not enough fuel. But you are right.
Holy crap. You must be running real lean for a supercharger to be having EGT's that high.I run 8psi with a intercooled T3 and i cruz at 1000 on the highway and 800 city.WOT is 1200.
Holly crap your running way tooo rich for a turbo set up!!!!!!!!!

I have an S10 and use a remote setup instead of a tubo manifold.exhaust manifold is on the right and the turbo is on the left under my intake manifold.I think maybe that causes my EGT's to be alittle lower. My air /fuel is 13 at WOT.I mean a supercharger should have way less EGT's than a turbo due to its not using an exhaust driven turbine.
I have the exact same WOT temps with the gm charger, but my crusing at 70 temps are about 1250-1300. My probe is in the header approx 3-4 inches from the block. This is with the 2.7 pulley boys pulley.
Hey guys, I have my probe about 6 inches down in my down pipe. Currently I still have the complete stock exhaust system on as I have been looking for ideas and opinions on what to put on for exhaust, that is header, high flow cat, etc. I really don't think it is running that lean just that i would like to see temps a little lower especially if I put the embree 2.6 pulley on it. Thanks
I know this is an old post but i'm having the same EXACT issue ith my EGT's....the probe to my EGT is approx 6" down in the third runner of my Pacesetter header and i have the other runners wrapped up.....I have the Walbro 255 fuel pump and the Vortch FMU with hte 12:1 diaphram in it...I had the car dyno'd and it was reading 11.9-12.1 A/F all lthe way up to 6500 RPMs....this is with that wideband probe in the exhaust...But my EGT temps are running between 12-1400 cruising 55-70 MPH....
I wanted it rich becuz i'm planning on gettin Embree to machine me a 2.7" pulley instead of that 2.75" and throw in a 35-40 shot of Zex to cool the intake charge.....but i'm lookin into getting a WideBand A/F Gauge from these guys..tell me what you think everyone:

from what i was told with the s/c program your egts are higher cause of all the timing takin out your burning alot of fuel in the exhaust causing the high egts, cause i have the same egts as all the s/c people which i really dont like

R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
1 water injection.__________Works really good but most people don't want the hassle.
2. more effecient turbo______Too expensive to change the Turbo for most people.
3. larger diameter charge pipe_______This crap don't work
4. larger intercooler______Will work a little nothing noticeable.
5 headder wrap(wrap the whole thing)______Hell no.
5 cryo2 makes a intercooler sprayer that uses co2 they also have a fuel chiller and this thing that goes in your charge pipe that chills the air._________Hell yea.
So I guess the only 2 things that will work for you is like cryo2 or water injects.
**It depends where your EGT probe is man, some people put it in the manifold and I did too and EGT's are high(well I was running high compression Turbo).
**If you put it in the downpipe they are going to be 200-400 degrees less.
**If you add more fuel you ARE going to get AFTERBURN, which will burn off the gas in your manifold hence triggering the probe to read higher temps. and hurting your manifold.
**You are having the EGT's that i had with my 2.4L, an I hated them man, that is why I swapped the motor, only thing I can tell you if your motor is NOT forged DO NOT get close to 1600 degrees, that is if your probe is in the manifold, that is like the cutoff point, if you see it get off the Throtlle.
**I guess go to dyno and see what it says, but I am going to tell you that there is a possibility that you are going to read A GOOD A/F RATIO and still be running the same high EGT's. I guess it happened to me
I was runnign 12.5:1's and EGT's were around 1500-1600, I never figured why??
Good luck man. You probably have a sorry head (just one of the bad apples out there) and it has a crap load of sharp spots (EXTRA SHARP CHEDAR) LOL, and it is making your inside heat up, it is very possible because the heads are mass produced, or a slightly higher compression than everyone else.
That is just your luck, maybe.

ok on a GM supercharger... at psi you should be at abou 55-60 psi if on stock injectors.....try that out.....thats most likely the cause....ideal street EGTs are about 1375-1425
1600 is normal EGT's for the gm s/c reflash. That is what a knowledgable source who seen what GM did for the reprogramming said.

You can tell me all you want about 1600 being normal temps. keep on putting like that and you will see how long your motor will last.
Yea right man really cool 1600 degrees.

I personally wouldnt question GM when it came to reprogramming the ECU for boost.
distance will change the egt
