So i installed my aem wideband today and at first start up the gauge bounced from completely lean to completely rich. I took it for a drive and i got 10 at wot and just driving around at 30 mph @ 2000 rpms it would read from 14.7- 15.3. At idle it reads now 15.3-16.1 any ideas? I know I'm rich under boost for 8 psi but does the wideband usually jump that much.
Yeah it does... it's showing you the actual AFR. The O2 sensor on the car is constantly monitoring and the fuel trims are constantly adding and subtracting fuel to keep it bouncing around 14.6:1.
Unplug your upstream O2 sensor and watch as the wideband readings become more static since nothing is altering the mixture but the tune.

@turboalero
it will bounce around because it leans then richens a little bit because the catalytic converter works more efficiently that way
running rich? turn the boost up
When it is in closed loop mode it is trying to achieve 14.7 afr. It is normal for it to fluctuate back and forth like a sign wave. It is working properly.
If you log your narrow band you will see that it produces the same results.

@!#$ okay I was kinda wonderin the same thing w/ my wideband. Those 16:1's were really makin me nervous even at an idle. Gettin retuned next week so my tuner will have to take a look at the afr's and see if we can smooth em out.
"Vroom."
"Yo I wouldn't race him, there's not even an interior in his car man."
"Vrooooooom PSSSSHHH!"
"Oh sh*t. F*ck that, dude..."
