Has anyone else ran an icebox on their m62 setups yet? If not you should, I saw great results with mine at the track and most at the bash can vouch for that. My IATs dropped from the 160 area to 106 degrees on a 90+ deg day and my traps improved almost 4mph on that hot day.
Anyways I'd look into making one and I'd give the following suggestion. Run a switch to your intercooler pump so you can turn it off in the staging lanes. The reason being is the ice will try to cool all the heat pulled from the block when the water flows through the box and it will go quickly. If you turn the pump off until you go to run I bet the ice would keep a lot longer.
Mine is for sale however even if mine doesn't sell I think it's a great idea mod for anyone else if you go to the track often. I probably could have gone with an even smaller pulley if I had one to put on that day

I plan on making a box for my car since I put the battery in the trunk. I just don't have the funds with cut hours at work and school and all my normal bills. I still have parts that need install as well...dual pass endplate mod, ls1 tb, re-install gagt aluminum control arms, and camber plates.
I was curious if you tried dry ice at any time as well? I don't know how long it would last or if there would be any cooling benifit, but I saw the local mejier sells it and it lasts a long time in a regular cooler, so why not give it a try.

same boat as me, i have lots to install still and no additional money at the moment to get the last piece. i don't think dry ice works the same as regular ice with liquid. it's merely there for the vapor and cooling effect, not touching a liquid.

Ya it's nice for a one or two time down the track or a quick run around a road course.
Keep in mind though that it will melt and IAT's will go back up. Should be used in conjunction with other cooling mods mentioned above..dual/single pass, meth etc.
Dry ice works also. Debatable which is better. I'd say negligible.
Lols.
You guys should pick his up haha rather than make one
fits in the engine compartment well. most of us saw it at the bash!
You could use dry ice however it would need to be in a separate container and not mix with the fluid in the heat exchanger. It would more likely need to flow through another heater core inside the box to cool the fluid. If you mixed dry ice in the box with the fluid it would be a big bomb. Kinda like putting dry ice in a 20oz coke bottle with a little water and watching it expand and blow up
As for the ice, it lasted a few passes however sitting in the staging lanes with the pump running is what killed it. If I used it again like I said I would have turned it off until I was getting ready to run and the ice probably would have kept for several passes. Key is making the box large enough to hold a decent amount of ice, just a little isn't going to cut it. My box would hold a 5lbs fairly easily if I recall correctly.
