hey all , iv got my 1996 z24 with stock internals (bottom end) with the secret cam set up LO intake manifold and TB remade a 2.3 l header to fit a garett t-25 turbo and intercooled it. Now the car has been running good for just over a year and a few runs to the track saddly i only ran a 14.8 due to the fact the stock clutch did not hold in 3rd. iv been try to tune it all with a SAFC-2 but just not having any luck with it. iv heard some ppl say it works and others say it dont on this type of car. The problem im having is that the car just seems like it dont want to livein up or am i just expecting to much out of the old girl or maybe my set up is completely wrong ?
Even an fmu would be better than an safc, but if you swap to a newer (97 I believe) pcm you can tune it with HPT. Do some searching, theres plenty of people on stock motors that have been boosted for a while, myself included.
Also what injectors are you using? And when you say 2.3 manifold Im thinking you meant 2.4 since its a 96?
no, i changed it and re made a 2.3 exhaust (tubular header i guess) manifold to fit on to my 2.4 head and turbo. I am running stock injectors
but have a set of 450cc dsm ones i tryed to make fit but with no luck ! i kept blowing the o ring off where the injector seals on the head under boost. So it would be best to rip the safc out of it then ? im actually surprised on how well these engines hold up to boost lol not to say much for the transmission
