As our cars get older, and with gas prices and the economy being in such bad shape,
Who is still running premium gas?
Who is running midgrade?
And who is running the regular?
For these, please state your reasons. I'm currently still running premium, but starting to think I might downgrade.

The GF still running ultra 94 in the GTP.
Reason being, the more expensive regular gas gets, the cheaper the move to premium is.
Think of it this way (I am Canadian, so I will use Litres)
When regular was $0.60/L, and premium was $0.70/L, it was a 20% increase in price to go from regular to premium
Now, with regular at $1.30/L, and Premium at $1.40/L the increase is only only around 7.5% to make the jump.
So ya, the cost difference going from regular to premium is lower then it ever was in the past, so if it better for the car, why would you not use it?
**there is only one true love in my life... and my girlfriend has learned to live with it**
Yea its only a few dollars more per fill up, Id rather have all of the performance there rather than save a few bucks.
Gas prices here are acutally going down a bit. Premium is just getting uner $4 per gallon where a month or so ago it was almost $5.
when i had my sunfire i put premium in it for 6 years. I only drive it on Friday and Saturday nights around the local hang outs so it's not a big deal for me really.
$0.20/Gal. more than regular. On a completely empty tank in my 02 that would have been an extra $2.80 to fill up the tank. I do not see the benefit of switching to a lower grade fuel.
.... Also, it can effect gas millage, in the long run, on some car's, it can be more cost effective to spend the extra 10 cents a gallon.
I wouldn't.

we put 97 octane in wade's s/c z once on a trip out to wisconsin, the car seemed to be fine if you could stay out of boost, but once you wanted to get into it a little it was usless for power.
the s/c kit says to use premium, so use it.
^^ I think you mean "87 octane".
Thinking this now as gas prices are actually dropping?
I run 93 in my N/A car. Just tried running 87 the other day and it ran like crap, stalled out etc...

yep, obviously since 97 octane would make it run better.
thanks for pointing it out though!
93 all the way, I'd never throw low octane in, although we do have tunes set up for low-octane gas in our reflashes as far as I can tell..

Quit buying tools and spend the extra $ and stick with 93

Anyone ever try 100+ without doing any tuning or anything?
Same as spraying meth on 93

wrong spraying meth changes your afrs and untuned will do nothing but rob power, it has the same benefit as spraying meth TUNED.
100 ocane will do the same as 93 without tuning. It will allow you to run your high octane tables constantly......

No we do not. I know what you are speaking of, but those tables aren't for different octane fuel. Our ECU's have no way to know what octane is in the car.

would spraying water give a benefit if you're untuned for meth?

It's 50/50 methanol/water mix when we say meth. You can spray it, it WILL benefit you untuned, it will lower your intake temps a ton. Meth's intention is to lower temps and allow for more agressive tuning by raising the octane and reducing detonation.

I am still using premium. You are only saving a buck or two whgen you fill up by not using premium. I can think of much better ways to save money.

yea i know what you mean by meth
ive been spraying a 50/50 mix since i hooked it up, i just need to get the pump PSI back to how it was.. from my understanding its the water that lowers the temps and the meth that ups the octane, which is why i was curious about just straight water if im feeling unsure if the meth is helping or hurting right now.
93 is only .20 more per gallon so you spend 2-3 dollars more per tank.. sure it adds up but if you want to save money, quit smoking (if you smoke) since that is $4+ a pack these days

Depending on which side of town I'm working on at the moment I run any where from 93 to 100 octane(Yes pump gas). There a pump station down the street from my home that sells 100 octane race gas but I don't exactly live in the city and its meant for all the dirt racers that come through to fill up but I run it in my car.
I always have run 91 min. got the car tuned with 91 but i run 94 normaly and its my daily driver...kind of I havent been driving it much lately just using the R6 as i am trying to sell the car so I havent really noticed the price in gas.
cost me $18 to fill the bike and i get 260kms to a tank in the city and 350-400if i push it on the high way

All dynos run on a Mustang dyno
I always run 91 as it is the highest available around here, one time the gas station worker accidentally filled me up with 87 and the car ran like crap when getting into boost.

Hell I run 110 race fuel in mine, but then again it's "Daily Driver" title has since been revoked lol. I drive it on occasion to work and she only goes out for the cruise nights and crap around here. My car the garage queen.
I was hoping this day wouldn't come.
