Question about GM dealer and GMPP S/C reflash.
Friday, December 14, 2007 6:29 PM
When I get my PCM re-calibrated by a local GM dealership, will I need to bring my entire car or should I just bring my PCM? I would much rather walk up to the service counter with my PCM.

Also, how do I know if a particular dealership is capable of doing such a re-calibration? I'd hate to go to multiple dealerships and each service representative give me an empty or confused look when I discuss this re-calibration or when I give them the part number of the re-calibration that is given in the Installation Manual provided with the supercharger.

Let me know.

You will have to bring your whole car to do it because they need to go over it to verify it was done properly and so they can validate your warranty. I called around to the dealerships and asked the service department about it. It costs one hour labor.

How will a random GM dealership service rep know what I am refering to? Will he/she have to be briefly educated by GM tech support over the phone or something?

This is what gets me, the Installation Manual states that the MAP needs to be unplugged until the re-calibration is complete. How will a dealership be able to verify if the install is done correctly IF my MAP sensor is disconnected via its connector? I realize that this last question is a "goofy" question, but it just seemed sort of odd when I was reading the Install Manual.

Each dealer is supposed to have the setup that allows reflashing w the PCM out of the car, sadly very few have this setup. You can ask before you go if they are equipped to do so, but likely you will need to take the whole car.

It's also a good idea to fill out your registry completely. If you post more questions down the road and leave something out people can look in your registry and see what you have.

I'll admit that I have had a GM pickup truck PCM reflashed at a dealership before. We simply brought the PCM to them as FstCavZ24 explained. However, I can't remember which dealership we went to.

By the way, when you stated "registry," were you refering to my profile?

Yes, your profile.

It'll make things simpler down the road for everyone.
