Well as some of you may have seen my other post.. i got a fully built engine for the Twin Charged set up... im looking to run about 15psi... And i have always been leaning towards getting a MSD set up... but never have...
For thoughs who have it.. how much of a difference did it make?
Also which one would i be needing? i have been tuning with HP tuners so i dont need one that adjusts timing... i just havent been able to find out clearly what the difference between all the modles are and such..
Any one with info on this let me know...
And I remember seeing some one who actually had raplced the entire IDI cover and just ran wires to the spark plugs (well kept the cover just drilled 4 holes for the wires..is this how it is set up ? or was it just a custom one?
The First Twin Charged jbody
blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno
I'm running the Team Green 2.2 coil conversion + MSD DIS II non programmable...
Utilizes MSD coils, coil adapters, oem GM ACDELCO spark plug wires and an MSD-DIS2... in all honesty just the coils ALONE made a huge difference over stock, the MSD just helps with more power as well as multiple spark discharge to ensure a complete burn.
Keep in mind stock coils are limited to I think 20,000 volts whereas the MSD ones can go to 40,000, which is around where the DIS2 maxes out. DIS2 with stock coils is a definite improvement but if you want maximum sparking capabilities go with the MSD coil setup too.
Lastly, what plugs do you plan to run? I've used both the GMSC 1 step colder as well as a 2-step colder GM DELCO plug... good results on both. (Gapped at around .035)
Good luck.

i have the team green setup and step 1/2 colder plugs and it runs awesome
I ran a DIS-2 plus on my 2.4 years ago, worked great and I never had any ignition issues. There was a write up on this site for it but that was almost 6 years ago now and I don't remember now. I do remember it wasen't hard and wired in under 30 min, everything wires into the ignition module under the cover.
