Ecotec supercharger fuel rail question
Monday, November 12, 2007 4:42 PM
i have 2002 ecotec cavalier. is it really necessary to swap to 03+ fuel rail and lines for a supercharger? or can i just buy different injectors? i don't have the injectors for the s/c yet. the 2002 supercharger kit comes with the 03+ fuel setup so i wasn't sure if it was discussed on why it needs to be 03+. i wouldn't think the fuel rail or lines would be in the way of the s/c. has anyone just left there 02 fuel rail and fuel lines the same? thanks for your help.

i had my 2002 fuel rail powdercoated black so i really don't want to have to go and get an 03+ one and get it powdercoated. so can i run s/c w/ 02 fuel rail or do i have to have 03+? the fuel rails don't look any different on function except where the fuel is routed in the fuel rail and how big the injectors are. thanks again.

either rail will work.........the only difference is injector length. you cant use the injectors on the 2002 rail

so if your not using the s/c injectrors use some green tops and it wil be fine.

Brandoson had the reflash w/ the 2002 rail.

ya i don't have the 03 or 02 injectors right now anyways. just my stock 02 injectors which i know aren't going to be sufficient. so i'll need the green tops? that's the answer i'm lookin for. thanks.

they are right the green tops will drop right in place, no spacers no injector harness cutting...no nothing. Just drop them in and connect the harness.

Swing by SS forums cobalt guys just give their green tops away!

will those green tops be the same for 2002 fuel rail? or they for the 2003 style fuel rail?

the green top LSJ injectors are a direct replacement for the 02 injectors

so any cobalt injectors will work without modding the fuel rail as long as its an 2002 fuel rail, is that even if you have a 2.4?

if it came down to it, i will. you need to find a spare 03 rail and start polishin.

the ecotec 2002 fuel rail accepts the cobalt ss injectors no problem what so ever. They are what I am running in my car right now. As for the z24s I know people use them, but will they work without modification to the fuel rail I have no idea.

on the 2.4 twin , you gotta mod the fuel rail , as the LSJ injectors are 1/4 shorter

they do , but its best to trim the mounting blocks down a bit just to make sure they seal well
