Calling All Turbo Guys...Setup Questions...

I needed some help from all the turbo guys here that run 2.4L J-bodies.

I have seen that the T3/T04E 60 trim and stage 3 .63 A/R Exhaust wheel and housing is a good setup. why?

I am running the secret cam swap (i should have done my research) where is my peak HP and Peak torque made with these cams. i know everyones engine is different but i know your cam dictate where you make power. With the secret cams what is the power band at?

(Linking the two questions) What can i expect from using the turbo on top with a secret cam setup. I didnt switch to the 2.3 oil pump so i know redlining above i think 6200 is getting a lil risky so i plan to rev at about 6200-6500.

I guess what can i expect with this setup?
When will I start making boost approximately?
When will I make full boost (13 PSI) Approximately?

I know you guys dont know my full setup so you cant give a finer estimate. but i guess thats all i need is an estimate.

here is the setup though

Forged rods and pistons
Bored .020 over
full machine work and new gaskets (typical rebuild stuff)
Competition head from TTR
Secret Cam swap.
2.5 Inch exhaust (will be switching to 3 inch next year)
Urethane Mounts
Underdrive pulley
ARP Head studs
Cometic MLS Head Gasket
ALuminum Flywheel
Spec 3 clutch
Tec3 kit (will be installed with turbo kit)

I think thats it so far

List to include later
Bigger fuel pump (probably walbro)
Bigger RC Injectors
Tuned Tec3 programmed
Electronic Boost Control
Tial 38mm External Wastegate
Log style Turbo manifold
Greddy type S BOV
Intercooler
Ntercooler spray rail Kit
i know theres more just cant think

A lot of these parts i have gathered from people who have bought these for their J's. Anyone thinks theres something i should add let me know.

Last question
Why do people switch to a 2.3HO intake? Does it flow that much better? Good for Turbo setups?

I know some people can be touchy for asking something stupid. So apologies ahead of time if i have. Just need some questions answered or pointed to where i can find the answers. i know no one here wants to "spoon feed" anyone.

Anyways I am open to all information and criticism good and bad
Thanks in Advance to all who reply

honestly if your building your motor why not upgrade the oil pump? im not sure where peak power is made on secret cams, i believe its 6200-6500ish, im running ho cams so idk for sure on the secret, as for your turbo setup, you will make boost fast enough on 13psi with that turbo, that pretty much what i was running on my car which got me 362whp 320tq @13psi @ 6200rpm, and that was on a rough tune with maxed out injectors, the 2.3 intake flow better imo, yet it has never been proven but just by looking at the 2 designs would make you think the ho intake flows better

See i like your power numbers. i saw another guy on here that runs the stock oil pump with a GT30R turbo and is making 400+ HP. my engine is already built i had a post on here earlier to find out why the 2.3 one is better and if i should tear the engine back apart just to put on in.

From what i gatherered i look at it this way. You can modify the pan as well. people say the pump is farther away from the pan than the 2.3 pump is. well in my case, i should just get a modified pan instead of tearing the engine back apart. if you make a pan thats shallower it will be closer to the pump making the possibility off sucking up just air that much less. also if you make the pan longer you can hold more oil in the pan. just my thoughts.

anyway i know its a boost post so like i said, i like your numbers. what kind of kills did you have (like kinds of cars you beat) and what are your quarter times?

also i have seen Charge pipes sold at 6061 Aluminum. and some that are stainless steel. Any difference?

Lastly I need a downpipe Diameter, i know the exhaust should i have no back pressure so going bigger is better but i wasnt sure on the downpipe side of the equation. any sugguestoins????

thanks again

i didnt know your motor was already built thats why i was saying use the 2.3, i dont know if the pickup on the 2.4 pump being further away from the pan than the 2.3 pickup is the reason for the swap, from my understanding the 2.4 cant move enough oil on the top end to keep the motor lubed up. but spyhunter did get 432whp on stock oil pump and head bolts for that matter which is crazy. ive only ran my car against a few cars one was a built evo by ams and stayed right next to him, and i raced a srt4 with a fully built motor with lots of bolt ons and stayed right next to him unfortunally i havent managed a kill, car has never been to the track either, charge pipe all do the same thing just different materials benifits of them are mild steel is cheap, stainless prevents against corrosion, alum prevents aginst corrosion and is lighter, so really up to you, dp has to atleast be 2.5", i have a 3" full exhaust from turbo back

Hey thanks man. That should give me a good start with some of my questions. It looks like you are running the exact setup i want to run. did u piece your kit or purchase it whole from a company?

Can I get some insight from Other turbo guys????
