I am seeing honda's go by, mazdaspeed 3's, talons, acuras.... whatever the case may be turbo 4 cylinders and they all have a distinct, noticbale turbo sound in the exhaust...
Mine sounds like another 4 cylinder with exhaust... why?
I have 2.4 inch SS downpipe, 3 inch catback and a megan muffler... No resonator or cat... am I retarded?

Accidently hit post
But if you want that sound id look into an exhaust with a high flow cat and different muffler. Just my opinion.
I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'
Take the muffler off.

I had it that way for a while and was extremely loud.
I dont have a cat converter, all the cars I speak of have mufflers... I just dont know what I am missing lol

My car is the same way, full 3" exhaust but no sweet turbo howl like other cars have. When my car had a open down pipe it has a really mean sounding turbine howl when the turbo was slowing down, i miss that shound.

Thats exactly what I speak of. Other cars have it with a muffler, mine and yours dont... but why? lol

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
You guys are weird, mine clearly sounds turbo.
-Trailblazer SS - not so custom 6.0L - custom intake - custom tune
- (1) 2.4L on an engine stand (1) blown trans (2) good quad trans (1) eco trans = party
Hmm. A lot of people tell me my setup sounds like a Subaru STI and I can live with that lol. I just have a 2.5" downpipe with no cat running an ebay catback 2.5".

Its your cam, Turbo cars have NO overlap as where yours does, so it drowns out the little turbo sound that you speak of.
Its the sound of the turbine through the exhaust that QBE is after, not the sound of the spool or exhaust note.

Manifold design has a lot to do with it. A lot of tubular manifold cars start to sound more like bikes at wot.
Blew it up, build numbers coming soon
I would guess because your turbo has a larger A/R on the exhaust side so it spools slower. When you do go WTFO then its just all engine noise drowning it out.
O noes!

Yeah I'm with Spy on this one...my car definitely sounds turbo. I have 3" turbo-back: high flow cat, 2 short resonators and Megan muffler.
What sound are you guys talking about that you don't already have?

Get a tubular mani she'll howl alright
.
No turbo sound out my tail pipe either. 3", high flow cat, flowmaster 10 series, and soon WG tied into down pipe. It sounded awsome with the open WG dump but its to loud and my be the source of some of my other issues.
There are three sexy sounds in the turbo universe.
1. Spoolage
2. Tial blowoff valves
3. Wastegate flutter
I remember seeing AEM's 2JZ dragster at NOPI last year when I was on the track shooting video, and that sucker had a nice 2" wastegate dump. And when it was going through the burnout... pretty sure I've never heard anything sexier in my entire life.

It's not that it just sounds different because you're actually in your car possibly?
I dunno, got any vids of you making any passes so we can hear what yours sounds like?
Other than that I'm gonna guess maybe it's because of the dump tube from your wastegate. If it's open and theirs is piped back into the exhaust system, I can see that making a large difference.
I have it plummed into my downpipe.
I have the Tial BOV too.
idk maybe its cause I have a really good muffler lmao...
time for a tubular
