GMSC kit on an 01 grand am?
Wednesday, March 21, 2007 5:30 AM
Hello, I'm new here and I have a question. I drive a 2001 grand am SE, it has the 2.4L twin cam in it.

Would I be able to successfully install the GMSC (M45) kit on my car and have it work correctly? Would GM still reflash my ECU, or is that a "J" only thing?

Thank you!

No brad it is not only a j-body thing. The dealer has a reflash made just for the grand am. I believe there are only a couple parts that are diferent between the j-body and n-body kit. I think the only difference is in lttle things like the cruise control cable and other small stuff.

^^^^ IGNORE HIS STATEMENT IT IS FALSE

THE GM KIT IS FOR BOTH THE J-BODY AND N-BODY , REFLASH IS DONE BASED ON YOUR VEHICLE

if you get a new kit it gives you everything you need , including the part # for the reflash for the N-body based on the trans manual or auto

I had to fight for the stealership to do my free reflash. It's in their literature that the reflash IS included with the purchase, (only where you buy it). Good luck, it's a great upgrade.

what he said.

the kits install exactly the same on both the nbody and jbody. The flashes are just based on nbody or jbody manual or auto..

-Trailblazer SS - not so custom 6.0L - custom intake - custom tune
- (1) 2.4L on an engine stand (1) blown trans (2) good quad trans (1) eco trans = party

????What did I say that was false???? I did not mention that there are 4 different rflashes because all he needed to know was that there was one for his grand am.

The only problem I forsee is the fact that my cruise control throttle cable comes out of a different place than a "J's". My cruise is located above the upper engine mount on my car. Hopefully the extension cable will work and be the right length for it.

I didn't know you could get a manual in a 99-05 Grand Am, is this true?
