is there anyone running the AEM cold air intake on the GM s/c?if so what do i need to hook it up i really dont want to get rid of it and my s/c just got order today so it will be here soon
thanks,james
You'll need a new elbow from the throttle body to make it work.
I have (in a round about way/got a hold of/purchased) a Cobalt throttle body elbow and it works pretty darn nice! (basically the Cobalt AEM CAI kit...but you only need the elbow)
You'll have to trim the throttle cable bracket a bit to make it work though.
Another option is to look in to some 90 degree silicon hoses that have 2.5 inlet/outlet and long enough to trim/cut it to fit the AEM CAI.
It's needs to bend 90 degrees and then go down at a 45 degree angle to match up with the AEM.
I'd have to get pics once I'm home from work to show you....
Final option is do what other here have done and move the battery forward (toward the fire wall) and then run a straight pipe form the throttle body to the fender well. This is what I'll do sometime this summer I think but mine works for now. Look up Alias and PhlatCav and you'll see some examples of this.
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
cool if you can get me some pictures that would be great thanks for all your help
later,james
You might check with
streaker1369. His custom intake setup is really sweet. It looks different now because he added a catch can onto it and I haven't seen it repainted yet. But heres a before pic...
i found a 4.5 inch 45 will that work?someone e mailed me and said i cant use the aem at all
thanks,james
James...here is a pic of my AEM CAI (don't mind the wires...I'm cleaning it up!!)
You can use the AEM (see pic!). You'll need that elbow though. I'm not sure what all is available to make one but I'd think you can find one.
45 degree won't work. You'll need at least 90 degree (to go down) with a little 90 degree (in another direction) at the end to meet up with the AEM.

Yep, of course when I see anything with intake/supercharged eco I think of you because I have just always remembered your setup being really nice so I just threw the custom intake option out there. O and if you made some intakes for the eco s/c I would definitely buy one for when I s/c mine this summer so that would be sweet if you do!!
that elbow in the pic is from K&N , and they wont sell it separately
ive seen pics from some one that used a regular 90 bend , the size you need is 2 3/4"

Dang...I was wrong now that you say that!! It is the K&N elbow! Sorry I was thinking it was the AEM for the Cobalts...my bad!

i dont think a 90 bend would make it that far and its 2 3/4 not 2.5
thanks,james

BlueDeuce i got the intake elbow from the k&n i took the grinder to the throttle bracket but it still sits on the bracket who did you modify your bracket?
thanks james
back from the dead...
didn't think a new thread should be made. anyone ever use a cobalt s/c cai for their cavy s/c cai? wasn't sure if the holes were close to line up in the same place for the cold air intakes to reach. yes i know the battery will have to be moved.

my carDomain updated 11/5/07 I've got premium. Yes I do. I've got premium. How 'bout you?
not even close to fitting, i had one and sold it to get the k&n intake
somebody should find a way to get that elbow from a company so you don't have to buy a whole intake just for a elbow. I am looking for the same thing. I was wondering if a cobra head elbow would work
No, a cobra head won't work with the AEM intake.
NAW i AM GOING TO MAKE MY OWN INTAKE
