Okay, kids. I'm getting serious about this boost thing now and I've gotten everything for the turbo itself siting in the garage except the intercooler, which I've located and will be picking up some time this week. But I still need to nail down the fuel upgrades. I can get topfeed parts at teh local junkyard for cheap, but I'd like to know exactly what's involved with this. I assume I can install bigger injectors and control them with an FMU and AFPR without having issues with the stock ECU? If someone could clarify this for me I'd appreciate it. And of course, if there are those with the EIC setup, please feel free to provide some input. I really don't know which way will be the easiest or most economical. For the most part my engine is stock and I won't be running more than 8psi. I'm not trying to build a track car, just a fun daily driver. And if I blow the engine ,I really don't care, I can get another one.
when i did my topfeed, i used the fuel rail from the 2200 motor and a spare 95-97 manifold I had lying around. I also used ford red top injectors along with an adjustable fpr and adjustable fmu. i basically took the manifold and ported out the injector holes with a die grinder until the ford red tops fit securely with no leaks. i didn't need a spacer to raise the throttle body up higher because i mounted the injectors slightly lower. i did have to do a little grinding on part of the throttle wheel to get it to clear the fuel rail at wot. you seem like the kind of person that knows what he's doing and it looks like you've definitely done your research. i don't think you'll have any problems whipping up a topfeed for your car.
here are a few pics of my setup
the topfeed conversion is for sale in the classifieds. i also have the fpr and fmu for sale. send me a pm if you're interested
That's tempting, I'm sure $200 is worth it considering parts and labor. But I want to make my own, more or less for the pride of saying "I made this". Now, how dod you manage to mount the injectors farther down? Did you simply open the injector port more so the nozzle sits farther down in there? And how did you have to modify the injector harness? If I start by using the stock 2200 injectors, isn't the stock harness plug and play?

i definitely understand the "I made this" line of thinking. thats basically the same reason that I made my own. For the injectors, I did a little measuring to figure out where everything needed to sit and how far the injectors needed to be in the manifold so that everything would clear and fit together. I slowly opened up the injector holes with the grinder until the injector sat at the right height and was more or less wedged in the opening. I didn't want any vacuum leaks. I slowly worked my way across, 1 opening after another until everything fit together. As far as the injector harness, the ford red tops that I used had a different style connector than my stock injectors. I did some research and found that the 2200 injector connectors were a perfect fit. I had a spare 97 injector harness laying around so I ordered 4 injector clips from rockauto.com and spliced and soldered them in. This way, after everything was said and done, it was pretty much a direct swap. All I had to do was install the new manifold, connect the fuel lines and plug in the injector harness and I was ready to go. If you do have a 2200 injector harness, I would assume that you could just use that, but I'm not sure if it will plug into the main harness on the 95-97. I'm sure stevefire or a few of the other topfeed experts would be able to answer that question with greater detail.
I haven't bought the rail and injector harness yet but there were plenty of 2200s at the junkyard for me to take what I need from. And where I go it's super cheap for parts. The intercooler is only going to cost me $40 lol...
your selling that for 200.00???
if so i will buy it...
horsepower is how hard you hit the wall, Torque is how far you push the wall with you
