I'm currently working on a custom turbo setup for my cavy which will be completed this winter. I have been doing alot of research on turbo sizes and pricing and have the opportunity to pick up a new turbo off a buddy who was going to run it on his SRT4. This would be my starter turbo and will upgrade in time. The one i am considering is a garret t3/t4 50trim with .63ar, any idea what the spool up, power capabilities, and efficiency is of this turbo are? The engine will have a completely built bottom end as well as all of my other current mods i have on the s/c ed engine. Looking to push 20psi as my goal and somewhere in the 400whp range.

T4those 2 would give you goal with a nice parts to help them.
thanks man, those help me out alot, looks like the turbo will give me some room to play with, i'd like to get an idea about spool up though, i dont want a dyno queen.

noraml spool on a large t3 is around 3200 with a ported head around 3000 with some more odds and end you could get it lower.
That 50 trim T04E is perfect, you won't find a better fit. You can hit 400bhp with that and still have a low spool time.

better a delay than a disaster.
Thanks OHV and Nightmare you have both given me the exact information i was looking for. Now I guess it's on to the build up as soon as the car comes off the road end of October

also that t4 is a nice peice if you do that one because of price remeber most turbo manis are t3 So get this
Plate and have a shop weild it in place of the t3 adapter.
