SS/SC aftermarket header for s/c eco J ?
Friday, September 15, 2006 9:29 AM
I'm wondering if I should consider a cobalt ss aftermarket header for my supercharged eco sunfire... The engine is basically the same, so is there any reason why they wouldn't fit ?

I'm thinking they would probably be better than a pacesetter 4-1 which only has a 2 1/4" collector... Of course this means a custom downpipe, but I can live with that if it permits me to have a full 2.5" setup...

HRC just released their header for the 2.0L.

Stainless Steel Shorty Header:

Designed to replace the restrictive and heavy stock cast iron manifold, this high-flowing piece will extend top-end power while maintaining excellent low and midrange performance. Tuned-length Stainless Steel tubular primaries feed into a rotational-firing extractor collector. Optimal O2 sensor location for unmatched drivability. Expertly TIG-welded from premium materials. Compatible with stock downpipe/catalytic converter assembly.

Part Number H EX-2000 $499.99

Let me know if your interested and I'll check on my cost.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

I sure hope not, a powdercoat would burn off in no time.

Perhaps you meant heat-coated.

It should fit the 2.2, but whether it will fit in a J-body is the bigger question. The clearance to the firewall could be different betweent he 2 platforms.

Isnt the Pacesetter header the exact same? I would have to think that it should fit just fine, being a shorty header and all

the pacesetter header for the ss/sc and redline was patterned off the eco cav header

youd have to have a down pipe made for it

i havent had time to try it out yet though

Does the Cobalt header have larger primaries?

1 3/4" and has a larger hole in the collector

the 2.2 cav is 1 1/2" , 2 1/4" hole in the collector

can you give me more information about the cobalt ss header pacesetter makes, for example, price, possibility to get it without the downpipe, and is it also possible to have it ceramic coated?

it comes painted or coated , just like the others

you can only buy it as it comes

price is about the same as the cav header
