Since my injectors are at 100% duty cycle, i was able to snag some 2.0 ion s/c 36lbs injectors off my friend as he upgraded to the gm stage 2 kit.
The majory problem with these injectors is that they are 1/4" shorter then stock injector height .
So do compensate for that, i redrilled the holes 1/4 higher and then went ahead and 'machined' (with dremel) out the half circle to match the stock mounting surface.
To use the stock gm injector clips, I had to cut a groove on the injector. I just used a hack saw (very carefully) to connnect to the two grooves.
After that, it was just reinstalling everything. They used the same injector clips, and everything fit perfectly.
The only problem i'm having is the my oring on the end of the fuel rail is leaking, and i have to wait for the autoparts store to open to pick up a new one.
Hope that helps. It gives an option vs using spacers like 97cavie24ls did.

yeah i dont have any clips on mine , they are kinda wedged
since the plastic spacer kinda thing keeps the injectors from falling in the head
when i was playing with the stock rail i didnt think there was enough meat to to make um work , and im using a venom rail since it was easier to drill and tap for the fuel pressure gauge
with the standard gm s/c program im runing mid 11's for afr , at 30 psi base fuel pressure
forgot to add , nice work and enjoy the extra room with the larger injectors

Great work man, Now give us some AF numbers and such
So can the reflash manage these injectors? If so I may do this setup with mine because I have access to a machine shop...hehe

Use the one of the orings off your old injectors. I had the same problem when I tapped my rail. I think its the bottom oring that will work.

mm.. Ok. maybe u guys can help me with this. The 'in' line on the fuel rail uses a plastic/nylon oring. Its hard and suppose to be a for fuel. HOWEVEr, it leaks now and no autopart store carries them. Its a holiday up here so no dealership is open to see if they have what i'm looking for. I have a regular boss rubber oring that fits in there and doesn't leak at all. But its not made to last long in fuel.
Now my question is, is there more then 1 oring on the 'in' line of the fuel rail? and i'm lost the other one? or has anybody had to replace that one, and noticed it was a hard white looking plastic like oring not just a rubber one.
So so far, i haven't even started the car yet. Will wait to see if gm has one(if they can figure out what i'm talking about of the phone). I don't have a gm manual to even look at the diagram to pull off the part number. Would held. Would be under fuel rail assembly in engine part.

Thanks I think I just read that wrong and thats why I missed it. I will be attempting this soon I think. I will post my results.

When I stripped my rail to added a fuel pressure gauge I also noticed the white hard oring. When I reassembled the rail, it leaked from that spot. Being late at night the only thing I had was the orings off my old injectors. I used the bottom oring and it hasn't leaked since.

spddmon,
I get where u going. And ur right, they do fit perfect. The only thing that bugs me is that i'm not sure if those injector orings are fuel rated. Would make sense, but would suck to have it blow out too. Its a temp fix, for sure. But just hope gm has some fuel orings kicking around. Just seeing if anybody else has had any luck.
mm..how long have u had the rubber oring in there?

Its been in there for 2 months, and they are fuel rated otherwise they wouldn't be on the injectors.
I believe I did the same thing as SpdDmon....... its been so long I cant remember.......

Well I just got a set of injectors from a cobalt ss supercharged and I have my rail. I just need to take the time to do it now. I will post my results when I finish.

did the rail mount up perfectly after you "machined" the 1/4" higher holes or did it rub again the engine?
i tried to post the second photo in the first post of him drilling out the new holes.

Nope... after i machined them.. i ovaled out the bolt hole like in the pic. Bolts up fine, no rubbing. Pretty damn close to not fitting..ie..injector hitting the fuel return line. But just clears everything. I actually got the 1/4" difference from GM. When they sell the eco charger, they note the difference in injector lengths.

hey nate, got my spare 2.4 rail taken off my other car today and wondering where did you measure 1/4 inch higher for the new mounting holes, from the edge or center of the stock holes? thanks
