2.4 eaton/gm blower new/unused value?
Friday, July 28, 2006 7:11 PM
I have an Eaton 2.4 Gm Performance Parts supercharger that I am going to be selling in the
next week or 2 and I am trying to determine pricing for it..

The supercharger was on a test motor sent to a local performance facility during a GM testing program..
then GM abruptly canceled the program... the motors, never fired... with superchargers attached sat dormant for some months and were then dissassembled for re-use..the superchargers remained intact and were not rebuilt... one of the superchargers was sold and installed 2 months ago and is doing fine in it's new habitat... the other..I still have.

The Eaton/GMPP supercharger I have is essentially brand new... there are a few minor chips on the paint from handling during it's dissassembly from the engine...
You can spin the pulley very easily with your fingers.. no binding, noise, sticking of any type... and even
just spinning it with your fingers you are able to feel air being forced out .... I was really kind of surprised at the amount of air I was able to get out of it spinning it by hand..

To the best of my knowledge it is in proper working order... visual inspection will show that this unit
is perfectly clean... and should present itself as I have described here.

I have seen these retail for $2400.. but don't want anywhere near that... I have no J body of my own..
and simply came to this site because I knew the ethusiast who could use it would be here...

I would like to hear from members on the approximate value of this 2.4 Eaton/GM Supercharger.

Regards,
Kyle

What you have done will be much appreciated by someone. The absolute most important thing in determining value is. Do you have ALL the parts the kit includes. If so I would say that $2,000.00 would be a fair price. If not it all depends on the parts you are missing and the cost to replace them. Wich I might add is staggering. Also is it a prototype or the same one they sold in the kit?

it looks very similar to the charger I saw on the GM performance parts site I went to... it has a
dedicated housing for the 2.4 only... you cannot unbolt it like some of the cobra, buick eatons I have seen.
... by this I mean the manifold with charger inside is 1 piece... there are of course the bolts to remove the
vanes from inside the manifold for servicing... but that is all ... like I said.. its a dedicated 2.4 unit.with no other way to modify it to use on another engine....
If there are diff injectors.. etc for the manifold... in a kit...
the answer is no... I don't have that... and realistically I understood this when I purchased the unit ..
I understand the value of the charger will be in relation to all the parts needed to make it work..

This is really my initial mention of the unit... I haven't even taken pics of it yet to put up for viewing
but should do that tomorrow when I get some new batteries for my dig/cam...

this really should be a great deal for someone... I want to sell at a fair price... not take someone or
have someone try and take me..... I want to offer a good deal to someone who will attach this thing and make
it hammer...
I am an old racer... I want to see this speed part making speed..

Well do you have a parts list of everything included in the kit? If not I can email it to you. We really need to know everything it is missing to try and determine a fair value.

Do you have the support bracket that bolts to the cam tower? All someone REALLY needs is the s/c and support bracket and mounts. The belt can be ordered. Bigger injectors can be had, and it can be tuned elsewhere.

for just the s/c and bracket I personally wouldn't pay more than like $500. A complete but used "kit" could net $1600 I bet.

i am planning on selling my s.c kit.

i have all the brackets/ idler pulley, belt, s/c pvc baffle. basically everything that comes in the kit, minus the map sensor, injectors and cruise control bracket. the s/c has 15k miles on it and still on the stock s/c pulley.
i want to get 1500 shipped for it. and my cartech FMU. basically a good set up for a pre 00 car.

(still on the car in 100% working order, getting stock parts then i will advertise it for real).

for just the s/c itself. i would say 700 -800ish. hard to say. what does GM list it as? isnt there a part # for the unit itself? i havent looked into it.

http://www.crateenginedepot.com/store/24-Twin-Cam-Super-Charger-12498660-P454C41.aspx

go to the link above and you will see what I have... only mine is black... I don't have the pulleys or belt..

but what you see in the pic above I do have...

and mine is "un- used"... not a drop of oil anywhere... all the stickers- new... everything- as new
essentially brand new...

I should have some pics up today.... I've noticed there are local members of the J-body/org here
in Dallas area.... I have no problem making it available to one of them for inspection if that's needed...

I will probably have some pics up sometime today.. tonight more than likely as I have some other
things to do today....

the charger was just unbolted... not disassembled or stripped.. pretty much just like pic above only
black..the little circlular press in "freeze plugs?" are still in... and shiny new... the little wire is attached

there is what looks like a vacum canister on it... and it is sitting on what almost looks like "linkage" of
some sort.... anyway.. it's all there... you will need the pulleys and belt for sure.. other than that..
I don't know...

anyway... I'll try and have pics of the unit up tonight.

I bought my kit, all complete and used, for 1600 shipped, great price, and i couldn't have been happier with the blower (unless it was a turbo)
