I am nearing compleation of my project, but as with any custom fab project Im having a few problems. for starters my brother striped a thread in the engine on the exhaust manifold. and Ive been wondering a few things. what is the best way to fix this? also do you guys know If I have to can I drive the car with the one exhaust bolt off? its all the way on the end.

thanks guys.

I highly recomment a tread saver kit from timesert. Their kit may be a little expensive, i.e. like $70 but those threads will almost never strip again. The replacement is made from carbon steel and is very strong, and the install process needs no power tools.
All done by hand.

Yea you will have to make the hole bigger so you can tap it for the sleeve, i recommend putting threadlock on the sleeve, i have a 94 escort that had a heli-coil in it... everytime i replaced the plugs the damn thing would come out on the plug.

i would try to use a heli coil, you can pick up the kit with the tool for like $20-30 at a local hardware store

It's a die, not a dye, a la tap & die set. You can TRY to chase the threads with a die, it might work out for you.
