2.4 charger question
Saturday, July 01, 2006 1:59 AM
Ok.
So this is really starting to bug the hell outta me....
I have the 2.6" pulley, why am I not seeing 8psi? I have methanol injection, I know its working, the belt is hella tight on the pulley, yet I only see 6psi, 7 at redline. WTF? Anybody have any idea why this is happening?

heat, elivation, intake filter, wear, bypass valve, exhaust back pressure....... any and all of these can cause that.

heat: ok maybe its around 80something during the daytime
elevation: 750ft dunno if thats good or bad
inake filter: that might be it as its an ebay crappy one and its pretty dirty
wear: only has around 10k on it
bypass valve: how would i adjust that? i thought you werent supposed to mess with it? how would I be able to tell if thats it?
back pressure: smallest point is 2.25"

I dont think its heat cause even when it was winter and 10deg out it still read 6psi. I'll have to get a k&n filter or something maybe that will help it out. and I dont think its the exhuast either cause I had a full 2.5" and it read the same as it does now....im sooo lost on this...thanks for your help

Try running a boost leak test. A boost leak could very well be your culprit

all that air is probably going through your motor still, the header and exhaust are probably the reason. a dyno will tell you if the power is getting put down with the 2.6 pulley

Your gauge might not be 100% accurate either, wouldn't be surprised if you saw 8psi (or more) on a different gauge.

hell i been wondering why im seeing 4.5 psi still on and im on the 2.6" pulley non injected and i KNOW for a fact thanks to the seat dyno that the cars pulling more boost cause it pulls twice as hard compared to the 2.8 pulley that i was seeing 4.5 on also. i already ran new line to the vac line to my gauge, im getting a new gauge here soon cause i think this autometer one is gay and im getting 0-15 psi stewart warner.
