# of people running gm reflash with turbo eco's?
Tuesday, June 27, 2006 2:07 PM
Im just curious how many people are running the gm reflash with their turbo eco's. I have the write up on using the map sensor and putting it in the intake manifold and all that i just want to see how many people are running it? Are you guys having any problems with it? What are you a/f ratios under boost (around 8 psi)? How much did you pay for everything including the reflash? What are the steps I need to take to get the reflash from GM? Can i run it using the accel injectors from the Hahn ecotec kit? I really want to get this and get rid of my cartech. All help is appreciated....

I have the reflash........paid about 100 bucks for it from the dealer. It drives good and its fun to drive. Im runnin in hte neighborhood of 8-10 psi...i think.........im not sure cause i have not boost guage hooked up.

around town driving no boost is about 14.1-15.6, and wide open throttle full boost is about 10.0 afr.

the sensor ia about 60 bucks and the connector is about 80 bucks. pluss about 100 for the flash.

when you go for the flash you need ot have the dealer call tcsc to get a vci number. They need to tell the dealer that you have the supercharger.....if tcsc find out its for a turbocharger they will not give you the vci number @ all no matter what dealer you go too.

everything snowman said is right. the reflash is a hours wage. so depending on your dealer, it will differ. i paid 84 bucks.

i bought the 370cc injectors that come with the SC kit. paid like 52 a piece or so. dont remember exactly. DIRECT fit in the 04 rail. stock clips and all.

im running 15-16psi with it. my wideband isnt hooked up yet. (i know i know, dont lecture) i have a new engine ready to go in so im not too concerned about this one... at WOT my narrow band bombs rich and stays at the last bar. doesnt even move. im running the begi fmu with the hahn kit at about 80psi.

i know its pig rich cuz im getting the black fuel stain above the muffler, not to mention the black fuel smoke when i shift.

runs like CRAZY. stock clutch is pretty much shot though.

You sir are insane, no wideband, and running pig rich........

So your running the Gm supercharger injectors eh? And the reflash. Okay, now get me part numbers on both John, send them to me on myspace. Thank you sir. I will need them both very soon.

rather be rich then lean, hell with turning the fuel down, turn the boost up to compinsate. i broke worm clip the other night.. the one coming right off the turbo.. snapped it in half.

i got mine at the dealer.

Injector Assembly 12593904 $77.55 ea dealer. (370cc)

TMAP Sensor- 90423637 $65.06 dealer. the map sensor is larger then the stock one and wont fit in the hole. drill it out to 31/64 for a nice snug fit. need to use some kinda bracket to hold it down too.

Map Sensor Connector w/wiring-88988329
$102.30 dealer

ecu reflash 5 speed- 12590820

i looked around a few yards. couldnt find an ecu. then i lost the oem mapsensor wiring.
so im still tuning to get the a/f out of the 10s. it runs sooo rich. iv pulled alot of fuel from the portfueler. my a/r is 11.8-12.3 accross the entire range up to about 80% throttle. soon as that pedal moves that lil extra more to the floor. a/f goes strait to 10:1

still breaks loose in 2nd running that rich. its amazing that extra power you have on 15-16psi when your not on a stock clutch..

im almost starting to wonder if the gm flash targets that kind of a/f under boost at WOT like the 04 ecu targets 14.7

You couldn't find anything at any yards, huh... Odd. Im sure i can find an ECU from a yard around here.

Wouldn't a 04 Ecu Still work with the port fueler??? Or no?

no an 04 wont work.

and yeah you would think id be able to find one. must not be common around here. but when i was lookin for a spare engine for my build. we searched hard in a few hour area drive. NOTHING. ended up paying 700 shipped to get one from another state.

^^^ Why wouldn't the 04 work? Cause of the Closed loop Mode?

That sucks that you couldn't find a Engine near you. There is a yard here not to far from me that i can get one 250-300 dollars, maybe alil cheaper.

04 trys to maintain a 14.7 af ratio.. so it will pretty much come close to shutting off the injectors in the head to compinsate and fight the portfueler.

lucky that u can get an engine that cheap.

i kept on telling people id rather run rich than run lean and i was right i would rather run rich but running that rich 10:1 is asking to burn up the rings like i did. Just a dab of my experience. what wideband do you have because if it reads 10:1 that might be the lowest it goes and that could mean your running richer than you think you are. All im saying is be careful best of luck to ya.

So does anyone with the reflash NOT run rich?

Hey Chris, I thought it was running good with the Cartech. I have the sensors and stuff for the reflash maybe we can switch or something. I dunno... I just wanted to run a 12.0 A/F ratio under boost and if I can't do that with the reflash then I'm probably getting the cartech.

I did not run rich with the reflash...

When it was first installed it ran in the high 9's low 10's afr. So I installed an aeromotive adjustable fpr and turned the base fuel pressure down until the afr was between 11.5-12.0 through the rpm band.

The car ran very well and pulled much harder after the base pressure was turned down.

I dynoed the car at 200hp and 270 ft/lb at 9psi.

It also pulled a 13.8 @ 99 mph on 6psi with the reflash at those setting.

also I have the dyno hp, tq, and afr numbers charts if anyone wants to see them.

what did u turn the base fuel pressue down to? stock i think is around 55 and at wot im seeing around 60-65.

what was your wot fuel pressure after you turned it down?

uh...55psi is alot (lsx motors run 58 not ecos ). that's almost 400kpa. the injectors are calibrated at 300kpa (about 43psi), turn your fuel pressure down and you'll lean it out.

so bottom line is that all i would have to do is go to the dealership and tell them to call it in for a s/c eco (after i get the sensors of course)?
