GM LD9 Charger HELP!
Wednesday, June 14, 2006 8:43 AM
Well I have a little problem that I need some advise on. A couple of years ago I took apart my GM LD9 Charger and had it polished, sent it over to Magnuson for a rebuild. In the interim I unexpectedly moved across country and wasn’t able to pick up the charger until recently. Well I was pondering the idea of reinstalling it and opened the box to discover that the O ring on the intake snout (pre charge end) and the O rings on the intake manifold end (post charge) were missing. I called Magnuson to see if I could get the rings, no luck. One guy there recommended that I use locktite gasket "glue" and another recommended I make O rings out of rings found at Home Depot and glue the cut ends together. Anyone with experience have any sound advice as to how I should proceed or a better means of a work around?

id just find a o-ring that will fit , maybe put a little rubber adhesive to hold the oring into the grove while you work it around

Thanks for all of the help!!

Well it looks like I can get most of the parts direct from GM

O-ring, Throttle Body 88960488 - DISCONTINUED

O-ring, Intake Manifold Runner 88960489 - 39.56

O-ring, PCV Port 88960490 - 4.46

For the TB O-ring that is discontinued I was thinking of trying to source an O ring from the charger off of a GTP. Did the GTP's use a simmilar O-ring that we do? If so would expect the size to be similar. I think I should be looking for a GTP gasket from a 97-2000 can anyone confirm that? Find any flaws within my logic?

the gtp is completely different , as well as having a tb alot bigger than ours

you could use a cerial box for a gasket on the tb , or even just a bead of silicone

that is all ive got on mine and all ive got on the intake to the head , just silicone

gotta love having a proto type , no gaskets , lol

All I am using is the stock throttle body gasket for where it seals to the supercharger. I have not put it together yet. Will this work? I do have another oring looks that looks like it should go there.

As for where the SC mounts to the head I was missing one so I took another one off and went to Advance Auto Parts and matched it up perfectly with one. I stopped at Oreillys first and they did not have one. It is a 2-1/8" x 2-5/16'"Oring. I bought some Permatex Super High Tack Gasket Sealant. I used just enough to hold the new Oring and the one I removed to the SC. It is holding great.
Hope this helps. I do not know anything about the other PCV oring you need. Good Luck
