TBI was only used on Saturn 1st-generation (92-96) 1-series motors. Any Saturn model that ended in "1" (SC1, SL1 or SW1) came with the TBI SOHC motor. All other models (1991 SC/SL, 92-96 2-series DOHC and all models 97+) came with MPFI.

here is also a site with some info oh gm TBI but they are rated a 13 psi so i can imagine how crazy they are at 43 psi if they would fit/work at all. tbi injectors from gm

now will these just drop in...is there machining involved when putting these in?

Will they just drop INTO WHAT? We're not mind readers here.

On a 96 or 98 Cavalier (what's listed in your registry), the only possible applicaiton I can think you'd want a TBI injector for is to be run with an extra injector controller. TBI injectors are an entirely different design than the port fuel injectors used on your car. However, as pointed out by a previous poster, you can't run a TBI injector at 43+psi. At that pressure, it likely wouldn't be able to open the pintle, and if it DID manage to get the pintle open, the spring wouldn't be string enough to close it again.

If the tone of my last post didn't make it clear enough, we need to know what you're trying to do, what kind of car it's on, if it's the car that's in your registry, if your registry is up to date, etc. Do you want it to replace the stock injectors? Do wou want it as an extra injector to feed your turbo? Do you want it as some kind of rigged-up alcohol injector? Again, we're not mind readers.

A TBI injector isn't a "drop in" for ANY vehicle with port fuel injectors. The pressure is wrong, the body is an entirely different design, the connector is wrong, the fuel feed is wrong, everything about it is wrong. The only thing they have in common is that they're both called "fuel injectors".

So what are you trying to do with it?

in theory though you could an adjustable fpr and turn it way down to 13 psi? maybe. just a thought.

Jimmy, the body is actually the same as the 94?-97 LN2 injectors. According to slowolej, they are direct fit (they've been running for something like 3 years now). I'm assuming the connector is also the same. In theory you could turn the pressure down w/ an afpr, but controlling them would be very difficult because I believe most regulators are good for something like 30-50psi. Also, these are VERY low resistance IIRC.

e-manage can't control pressure, and pulse widths only get so low before the injectors become uncontrolled....

Injectors drop in. Exact same dimensions physically. Saturn TBI uses 30 psi regulator as do big block medium duty truck from 95-96. Resistance per injector is about 1.2 Ohms each, they draw huge amounts of current which required different injector drivers in my pcm. Adjustable FPR required cutting a few coils out of the spring to bring pressure at idle down to maybe 17 psi (I don't remember anymore), bringing injector flow from 52 #/hr down to more reasonable number around 42 #/hr.

91-94 Saturn S series vin 9 engine has these injectors. Also look up 95 G van w/ 454 online to find same size and flow but different color injector.

You need a way to tune your ecm / pcm to use these.

slow: You should post a how-to on that if you haven't already... Now that you're not the only one doing it, anyhow...

Put me at the top of the list...

Hey slow,

With what we're doing with my 95 2.2l, you think these will just drop in to the intake rail, this might solve my fuel problem. ??? though, i have to get an fpr from a 95-96 medium duty pickup?

If so i'll hit up the parts yard tommorow and rip what parts i need, we're planning on running 7psi boost with a t3/t4 doner turbo, and ebay log.

Also, do you know if the 16196285 injector drivers can handle the low impedence injectors, or do i have to add a resistor pack to balance them out?
