Alky Injection Mounting?

This is a question for all you folks running alcohol injection.

I recently got my DevilsOwn kit and I was just outside today for about 2 hours tearing down the front end of the car, pulling the stock washer resevoir, and looking for an ideal space to mount the pump but I haven't really found anything I was happy with. I noticed I could squeeze it up inside the top of the fender at the front of the wheel on the drivers side but I don't know if I like the idea of it being that innaccessable. I also think I have a leak in my stock resevoir with the plug that "seals" the washer pump in so I'd definately have to fix that if I wasn't going to use an auxillary tank which I really didn't want to.

Anyway, how did you guys mount yours? For those who mounted in the trunk, where did you run your hoses?

give me a day till my dad comes back from his work trip with my digital camera and i will show you how i low keyed it into my truck... you cant even see the pump at all... all you see is the tank... and thats it no wires or hoses can be seen...

But if you mounted the pump and tank in your trunk... where and how did you run the hose up to the intake?

It seems like mounting in the trunk would be the easiest way to do it but I don't know where I'd run the hose. That, and I'd have to run wires back to everything from the PSI switch.

i have mine in the trunk and there is a space in there that you can put the hose through and i routed mine beside my fuel lines all the way up to the engine bay up to my intake

i mounted my tank in the trunk up on the left side of it, sorta behind the tailight area. hard to explain.

i like the idea of the tank being higher then the pump so gravity always keeps the line full of fluid. and i didnt want to mess with mounting in the hot engine bay, or in the bumper somewhere exposed to the elements.

the pump i mounted straight down on the floor from the left rear speaker/ grounded it right near there too. . then ran the hose under the seat/ plastic window part on the floor. then under my door pillar jamb peice that is removeable, then through the steering wheel shaft rubber groumet, then to the check vavle mounted on the battery hold down bolt using something i found in our shop, then to the injector.

i can still load up grocerys in the trunk, it is outta the way and easy to fill up the tank.
what size injector you get?

need anything else answered just ask.

Can you post some pictures?

Also... my check valve is pictured in the instructions as screwing right into the 90-degree brass angle that connects to the intake with the nozzle. Would that matter?

not to jack the post but i got the cooling mist kit, does that 90-degree piece that has the nozzle in it have to go into the intake or how does it mount cause i just used a nitrous nozzle instead cause i couldnt figure it out

if i can get pics or explained to, ill use it and run my m3 nozzle

i ran rubber hose... from the pump to the start of the engine bay... then got a adapter piece to go from the hose to the steel braided line which is the only part you can see and it goes into the injector.... and i just ran it under the car as well along my fuel lines...

My pump is mounted on the passenger side in the trunk, on the top of the wheel well behind the carpet... you cant even tell its there as it does not bulge out at all and then my tank is on the passenger side as well but against the fender with an "L" bracket drilled into the floor and as well behind the carpet and the bolts from my tank just poke threw the carpet and bolt to this "L" bracket... then my hose from the tank and wires punch threw the carpet as well making it so that all you can really see is the tank thats it... looks VERY! clean as you don't see any lines what so ever... and in the engine bay all you see is the steel braided line.... as well with every thing behind the carpet nothing gets caught or snagged on any lines or the pump at all... and the tank is far enough out of the way kind of tucked under on the passenger side (if you look in your trunk you will see were i mean) that nothing can hit it at all either... i made sure of this as i use my car all year round for every thing from goalie equipment to camping gear to snow boards, mountain bikes ect... so it had to use as little space as possible and not have any thing sticking out that could get caught up and ripped out/off

here they are... the tank isnt hooked up but you can see how i will just punch small holes threw the carpet to mount the tank as well punch small holes and run the hose/ wires back threw....

lafngas- basically the injector goes through a washer(i found one), then through the intake pipe, and what ever threads are left on the outside of the intake pipe, that is what the 90 degree goes to.

also check out www.enginerup.com for some pictures, or www.devilsown.com. seeing some pictures will explain it better.

i like engine run up's quick connect hose fittings, them are awesome. coolingmist has the little barb fitting deal, so when u want remove your intake pipe, you have to cut off the line, just a pain in the butt. currently i have a quick connect/disconnect just on the intake pipe(as that is what you would remove the most when working on the car)fitting like shown @ devilsown, or engine run up and i love it. just pop it off, and off comes the intake. no more pissing around trying to cut it . 100% better design i think.

i highly suggest running something bigger then a m3 injector. i am on a m4 injector and on the stock s/c pulley. if i were you, i would go with a M5 injector.

www.mcmastercarr.com has injectors for half the price any one else has. 8$ shipped.
go to page 1939. you want a "standard" nozzle in brass.
3178K75 is the part # for the m5.
just look under the standard cone spray @ 100 psi. it goes down the list from 1-5, then 10 15. JUST put a M in front of that and that is what you have to order.

but like i said, m5 is the way to go on a smaller s/c pulley.

also, dont forget to use some teflon paste with teflon(there is teflon paste with out teflon out there, it dont work as well as the stuff with teflon). reason being, i personally wouldnt want a peice of teflon tape falling off, clogging a injector and then the system wont work.
...

my set up is sorta like that. my tank is on the left side, zip tied to something on the other side of the carpet. then my pump i mounted to the floor. good enough for me.

just thought i would add in here, my old man just bough some stuff from snow performance which is another alcohol company as some would know and they said the best mixture is windshield washer fluid and a slight bit of methanol... they said it gives you the best over all effect... besides pure methanol which very few pumps could take....

use the m5 injector.

i run some yellow bottle HEET, and some distilled water.

lafngas. dont know what else to tell you, we explained alot in this post, and there are a bunch of other posts in this forum explaining stuff in great detail. IF you still cant figure this water injection stuff out, i dont think you should be working on a boosted engine...

Josh any idea on mixture % of windshield wash to methanol?? can it still be used to clean a window??

i got ya, the brass 90 doesnt go into the intake at all just the actual nozzle part, the reason i was confused is that i thought that you would have to put the 90 in the intake to shoot towards the rotors

i apologise for any frustration i caused

i will double check with my old man... but i remember something about for every 4L you add 1L of methanol for an almost perfect 50/50 mix... but i will double check and post up the correct amount if i am wrong...

are you just using your windshield washer tank for your alcohol injection tank as well? i am sure it is fine for cleaning your window still i donut see why not... just has more "anti freeze" if you will ahaha

so all you need is a thing of paint thinner and some empty windshield washer jugs and do your mixes like that... i buy my windshield thing in bulk... like 6 jugs for like $8 or something like that...

ok so i was slightly off... its for every 4L of windshield washer fluid you should add 3/4L of methonal... but even if you dont just make sure the jug says "contains methonal" and it is about a 40/60 mix so close enough to 50/50...
i posted a info topic all about alcohol injection so any thing else check on there to see if i covered it or not

make it look like that for the mist spraying at your throttle body/ s/c rotors.

like i said b4, check around on sites like coolingmist.com, enginerunup.com, and devilsown.com and you will obtain alot of info.
