Flex Pipe vs Ball Socket

Quick question, bringing my car I just bought (built/turbo 97 sunfire gt) in too have a resonator put in and was wondering if I should have a flex pipe installed as well. Currently the down pipe is connected to the rest of the exhaust (3") via a ball in socket joint. I know that either the flex-pipe or ball socket joint are designed to reduce stress on the exhaust system due to engine movements but I have read that turbo setups create extra heat and the flex pipe can be better due to heat expansion of the system. Never owned a turbo car before so your experience would be appreciated.

The car does have poly engine/tran mounts too, so is it worthwhile to change to a good quality flex-pipe?

Thanks

If I was you I would keep the Ball & Socket, but I would order some Engine Mounts from Karo to help keep that engine from moving around. One of the best things I've ever done.

I have a flex pipe currently... I will be switching to a ball and socket if it fails one more time, which is seeming to be a necessity at this point.

I know they use ball & Socket in a lot of stock diesel applications but the elbow is cast....
