01 2200 Ford Red top injectors installed NOT GOOD.

okay.......

so I installed the 330's in the car..... was really rich at idle, but idled okay once warm.......

saw 10.0 on my wideband before it warmed up.... once it did the regular 14.7 - 15.3.....

it hauled balls in boost at 8 or 10 psi..... just great..... nice and rich.... (11.9 - 12.0)

2 hours after install.....

now, I got a check engine light (scanning it tomorrow), and my fuel pressure gauge is reading 0 , car runs and hits boost with an okay AFR..... ( 11.5 - 12.0 at 8 psi)

I know the gauge isn't broken, because I swapped it out for a new one......... but when I diconnect the vac line from the AFPR and plug it, the car still idles the same, swapped the AFPR for a new one... same symtoms......

I deleted the fmu to see if it was leaking.......

do you guys think the injector o-rings are leaking ???

I can smell fuel but thats because I was working on the injectors in the morning and messing around with it all afternoon trying to get a reading on the fuel pressure gauge....disconnecting stuff here and there..........

fuel pump gone ????.... (stock).......... but remember it idles and hits boost

anyone ???? I would greatly appriciate some input .... 0 on the gauge is not cool.......

thanks

Lee

If your gauge is reading 0, your car wouldn't run, is this a gauge on the rail and did you check it while the engine was running?

Hahahahah, i was just gonna say that!! lol
I thought you had to get out of there to put an engine in, not play with your car?
Anyways, did you say you replaced the gauge? If not, that could be the problem.

guage is reading 0 on the AFPR...... that is inline after the rail and before the FMU............

I swapped the AFPR with a new one, and deleted the FMU to rule out any leaks.......

WHAT COULD IT BE ?????? injector seals ??

The only seals that would cause a problem are the o-rings on the rail. You do have the gauge in the wrong place though, it is supposed to be before the AFPR, not after it. I wouldn't be surprised that its reading 0, since there is no fuel pressure after the AFPR if the FMU isn't seeing boost.

NO NO NO....

the AFPR has a gauge on it ...... so you can tune the idle pressure...... the gauge is built into the AFPR.......... it's all hooked up right..... all I did yesterday was swap injectors.......... THATS IT............... everything else was already hooked up........

then a little while after install the gauge stopped reading.... and my engine light came on .......

I'm really starting to think it's the injector o-rings....... thats the only thing in the fuel system that I touched, that could be not seated properly.........but why would it be okay for a little while then go screwy.....

yeah lee, I'm not sure why it'd be your seals. If it was you'd have smelt fuel by now.

not only smelled it but seen it, I once had a bad injector o-ring when I was playing with my afpr's and stuff and fuel was spraying everywhere when I tried cranking it

The gauge can't be bad....... installed a new one ..... same symtoms.................. the gauge isn't reading and the car idles rich....................... when I disconnect the vac line from the AFPR the car idles the SAME............................... when I adjust the AFPR it doesn't change the idle.......... the new one did the same.......... what could this be ....

a VAC leak ????

Sorry to hear your having problems lee. I just got my injectors done today and am also getting the CEL but I don't have an AFPR and know I'm running rich. Hope it works out for you.

BoostedCavi,
LIke someone said earlier, if your fuel pressure gauge is reading zero fuel pressure, the car will not run. So you do have fuel pressure.
