Thin Wall Silicone Couplers
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 4:03 PM
Well in order to fit a filter on my turbo I need a 3 inch thin wall 90 degree silicone coupler.. the current one I have was almost 1/4 inch think... We tried "skinning" it down to make it thinner but that didnt work... I am talkign VERY thin.. like 1/8th inch, does anyone know where I could get a specific thin walled silicone coupler? I know ebay but I am nto guranteed those are thin walled...

thanks

so what is that in the pic? it looks like the started/trans. you could take a grinder and kinda notch the =extrusion but not into the threads. also if you try and "squish" the coupler it looks like it might be able to fit. otherwise ill look up some mor options for you guys right now.

just use a regular rubber 90 elbow , like the 1's that come with the elcheapo intakes

and most companies that offer couplers , sell them as 3ply or 5 ply or something similar to that

phil, try a heat gun..... us 1.8T folk use that to stretch the silicone turbo inlet pipe over bigger than stock MAF's, so maybe you can use it to make squeezing the coupler in there easier...

I think you could also use a small 90 degree mandrel bent aluminum tube. and cut i slit in either side and tighten it down with a clamp. I think that would work well.

try www.turbohoses.com

We have used them for a few different applications before, they garantee them to hold like 100psi, and there about 3/32" thick all around.
