An interesting situation has arisen. In a local auto recycler, there sits a late eighties, early nineties pontiac OHC turbo grand am. I only want the snail, would it be worth it? The entire engine bey has a nice shiny coat of oil, which is the only reason i haven't yanked it yet. Would it be sufficient enough to boost my ln2?

Sounds good to me... I'm always looking for slightly used parts like this... But i do know that unfortunately going fast is expensive... In reality i'd rather have a slightly used setup then shell out the cash for a complete new setup...

You get what you pay for though.

Gotta read into what I wrote though...
My point is this...
You buy that turbo, spend $100 or so on a rebuild kit, get it rebuilt, find a manifold and have the flange modified for that turbo flange, get it all plumbed, charge pipes cut to length, then after all that you realize the turbo is too small, you overspool it and blow through the seals, so you fork out $375 for the turbo you should have bought in the first place, and realize that the manifold doesn't work with that turbo, spend more money getting a new or redoing that manifold, more money redoing the downpipe, more money redoing the charge pipe, etc. Its actually cheaper to do it right the first time than do it twice.

Oh but my friend you've given me more info than you've realized. My real question that i wanted answered was whether it's better to start with a snail and build form there. But, i think eventually i will just get the jbodytuners kit... Save all the hassle.
